Welcome to Amberley Playgroup and Toddlers! We are a friendly and lively community Playgroup/Preschool that has run successfully in Amberley, near Stroud in Gloucestershire for over 30 years. Our aim is to provide a fun and stimulating environment where children can learn in the best way possible, through play and carefully planned activities that reflect their individual interests and needs. The

playgroup has been rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in it’s last three inspections and the Staff work enthusiastically to maintain the high standards and provide the best care possible for the children and their families. The playgroup staff also run a toddler session open to any children aged 0-5 and their carers. This is a drop in session on a Tuesday morning running from 9:30am until 11:30am and provides a great place for fun, and friendships, both for the children and carers.

Well, that’s it for this academic year! The last few weeks in the heat have been challenging but we have been fortunate to have a shaded play area to retreat to. Our end of term ‘beach party’ has been great fun, but with all the emotion of saying farewell to our leavers and their families, some of whom we have known many years . Thank you to all our parents for their kind words in our cards and their gifts and voucher. It is much appreciated by all the staff . Have a fantastic summer everyone and see you in September!

This is useful information given the number of ticks around on the common. We keep the grass cut in the play park to try and help reduce the numbers of ticks but we always advise parents to check. These tick removers are the ones we use in playgroup.

It's a good idea to make sure you've got a tick-removal tool in your medicine cabinet and that you know how to remove a tick safely and quickly, as some tick bites can result in infections like Lyme disease

You can also use fine-tipped tweezers but be aware these are different to regular tweezers that might be used to remove eyebrow hair. Fine-tipped tweezers are very narrow and pointed at the tip and ensure that ticks are not squashed during removal

The UK Health Security Agency advises that to remove a tick, grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible and pull upwards slowly and firmly. You can remove ticks safely yourself or you can ask for assistance from others if needed

Today is 'International Day of Play - a chance to highlight and celebrate the importance and impact play has on child development.

This year's theme, 'Protect Play, Protect Childhood' is key to our PATA values, making Play a Priority and Building Strong Foundations for Children to Succeed in Life.
