I've had a number of requests for tuition recently (academic y/e 2024) and want to let people know that I am currently at max capacity. As soon as I have some availability I will post here, which is likely to be 2024/25.

GCSE Maths Practice Papers available for 6 weeks prior to the official exams. Your child can sit these at home and I will provide feedback on all their work, along with a grading. What's not to like?

🍾🍾🍾 GCSE resit results are in and all my students ended with grades 8 and 9. You know who you are - well done for all the heard work you put in - you deserve it. Time to celebrate 🍾🍾🍾

An encouragement to parents and their children - So here's the thing : As my students returned to tuition following the longer than usual summer break (thanks covid), I found that many had lost skills that they had previously mastered. The good news is that it hasn't taken them long for them to get back into the swing of things and now all of them appear to have recovered their "lost" skills. A little like adults returning to work after a long break in employment (say following redundancy or parental/maternity leave) our kids do get back on track pretty quickly when supported well. So I want to encourage you to give them lots of realistic encouragement and help them with their work when you can. That way you'll see them starting to blossom again.

So fingers crossed. It's certainly better than spending hours at IKEA and finding everything is out of stock!

With GCSE results announced today, I've taken on a couple of new Maths students wanting to prove themselves in the October resits. That leaves me with the ability to accommodate another 4 students during Aug and Sept. If you know anyone who is looking for a Maths tutor please encourage them to drop me a note.

Given so many Yr 10 students have lost out on quality teacher engagement during the COVID-19 lockdown, I'm wondering whether parents are worrying about whether their children are "ready" to start GCSE Maths in September. I've been doing interactive online assessments based on the Key Stage 3 syllabus and I'm finding that students have forgotten what they were taught in their last curtailed school year. Any thoughts anyone - feel free to post or send me a message.
