It’s National Dog Day!!! 🐶
A day to celebrate our four legged friends

Here are some of our Animal Staff dogs! Mabel, Gunner, Teddy, Scout and Wren. 🐕❤️

Occasionally some of these furry faces join us on campus to help educate our students learning about animal care, training, grooming and more!

It’s hot hot HOT! 🥵

While there are currently temporary campus closures in place, our animal staff are still working hard to keep our animals cool! 🧊

We have A/C units and fans going, cool pods for our guinea pigs, frozen water bottles in our axolotl tanks, paddling pool for our ferrets, frozen hides for our rodents, extra shade for our chickens and we’ve temporarily brought our rabbits inside to keep them away from the extreme temperatures ☀️

Hopefully you’re all managing to keep somewhat cool in this weather. Remember to stay hydrated, stay in the shade and wear and reapply your sun cream regularly! 🥵🧊☀️

The lecturer’s put on a graduation party to show off their achievements and success while with us at SGS!

We’re so proud of all the hard work and the passion they have shown to the course! We can’t wait to hear the adventures you guys get up to 🦒🐹🐠

Our foundation students visited Catch A Smile recently for their animal care unit. The students had a choice of places to visit and all voted for fishing 🎣

The students had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the experience, they can’t wait to return! Thank you to all the staff at Catch A Smile who were all so helpful and knowledgeable ❤️

This is Hector, our rescue axolotl! 💞

He arrived to us in 2021 in a pretty bad state, due to bad advice given by the aquatic store, his previous owner had him in unsuitable conditions. His gills weren’t growing and he was covered in anchor worms. He also has tissue damage, which is what the brown marks on the front of his face and toes are, this could be from the small tank he was housed in.

After months of work with him we got him back to a stable state, after worrying he wouldn’t even make the weekend after he was collected. He’s now doing well, in a nice size tank with good filtration and a healthy diet. Slowly his gills have started to regrow but will never be back to their full glory.

Our foundation students recently visited Prinknash Bird & Deer Park 🦌

They really enjoyed the up close experience with these beautiful animals and all had so much fun on their outing!
