Annalise shared this with the class today. We are so grateful to Annalise's mum for allowing her to share this with the class. Annalise did an amazing job of explaining how it was made. I was extremely impressed with the scientific knowledge that our Year 2 class possess.

At the beginning of the school year the Parish Council asked us to help them with a challenge to help them rejuvenate the bus shelter in the village. In October we invited Knightlow families to enter an art competition to create a design that would inspire the bus shelter mural. During Arts Week every child from Stretton was invited to be a part of the project, winners of our competition are adding the finishing touches as well as painting their design ideas. Thank you to Mrs Horne, Mrs Salt and special thank you to Mrs Bavington for doing an amazing job in ensuring this project went smoothly :)

Well done to our amazing Eco-Ambassadors who have been busy this year earning our bronze then silver Green Trees Award, planting trees and hedgerows, beginning our KS1 wildlife area, creating posters to encourage recycling and putting litter in the correct bins. We have lots planned for the new school year, including working towards our Gold Award, litter picking rotas, Waste Free Wednesday Challenge and planting wildflower seeds. Taylor-Wimpey kindly donated high vis vests and seeds :)💚💙💚💙

We were very lucky to have Ruth Payne from Warwickshire Waste Management visit us last week. She highlighted the huge problem of food wastage and plastics going into landfill. She taught us that we can help by recycling and using less waste. She then set our school a challenge for next year which our Eco-Ambassadors will be leading, more information to follow. She then ended her visit with a recycling workshop in Reception, linked to our ocean learning theme, planting seeds in our recycled plastic bottles and reading 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley' 💚💙🩵

Inspired by our current English book, 'We Are Water Protectors,' Year 2 produced their own climate change awareness posters. The children put so much hard-work and thought into their designs. I am so proud of how aware they are of our planet and the environment. They truly have, once again, done themselves proud!
