Our aim is to entertain, educate, raise awareness, and in the case of reptiles to help people overcome their fears & change views! We attend schools, parties, events, kids clubs, functions, veterinary colleges/universities etc. and all of our animals are hand tame. We also give homes to many unwanted exotic pets. You can also visit us at our centre by appointment only but we're open 7 days a week 10.00-5.00pm.

Snakes shed their skin a process called ecydsis because their bodies continually grow while their outer skin layer does not.

They do this to accommodate growth - young snakes can shed once a month, adults about 2 - 5 times a year.
Remove parasites and repair and refresh - it heals minor scratches, scars and wear and tear on their scales.

A new layer forms - a fresh layer of skin and scales grown underneath the old one.
Cloudy eyes - a layer of fluid separates the old and new skin, making the eyes turn a milky blue and temporarily impairing the snakes vision.
Sloughing off - the snake rubs its head against tough objects like rocks or branches to tear the old skin, then crawls out of it in one continuous piece.

Lovely email and photos in today - I just wanted to say thank you to Mitch for an informative and fun Meerkat experience on Sunday, my granddaughter the best time. It was also so kind to let the youngest pop in for a 5 minute stroke at the end. It really made it so much more memorable.

Lovely emails in from a sugar glider experience at our zoo and a party -

Hi Hazel, I just wanted to thank you for the visit yesterday, Evelyn LOVED it and we all enjoyed it so much! Your patience and warmth towards Evelyn was just so lovely, and I can’t thank you enough, she can get quite uncomfortable and stressed around people she’s unfamiliar with but you put her completely at ease!

I wish The Animal Experience years of success and am glad we got to come before the end of this chapter. And all our love to Tango too!

Thank you for today, Hazel! The kids absolutely loved it (and the adults too 😉)

An Important Update from The Animal Experience

After many wonderful years of welcoming visitors to our zoo, we wanted to let you know that The Animal Experience will be closing to the public in November this year.

This has been a very difficult decision, but after much thought, Mitch and Hazel have decided it’s time to scale down the business and begin a new chapter.

The good news is that The Animal Experience isn’t disappearing! Our amazing animals will continue to visit people through our popular outreach experiences. You’ll still be able to book us for:

• Children’s parties
• Schools and nurseries
• Care homes
• Youth groups
• Corporate events
• Weddings
• Community events and much more

By focusing solely on outbookings, our animals will enjoy plenty of rest and relaxation between visits, ensuring they continue to receive the very best care while bringing smiles to people of all ages.

We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to every family, volunteer, staff member old and new , supporter and visitor who has shared this incredible journey with us. Your support, kindness and enthusiasm have meant the world, and we’ve loved creating so many special memories together.

We hope you’ll continue to support us as we take The Animal Experience on the road and bring our wonderful animals directly to you.

We’d love to see as many of you as possible before we close our gates in November, so come and make a few more special memories with us!
As always please email - mitch@animalexperience to book your visit.

With love and gratitude,

Mitch & Hazel

Our baby sugar glider is growing x
Baby kangaroos are called joeys which is commonly known, but did you know that all marsupials call their babies joeys? The sugar glider is indeed a marsupial, so a baby sugar glider is also called a joey! A group of sugar gliders is called a colony and colonies are common because sugar gliders are very social animals. Colonies can consist of up to 40 sugar gliders!
