Today in the baby room, we created beautiful tree collages using real leaves that we collected during our park visit. The babies explored the different textures, shapes, and colors of the leaves as they helped place them onto their collages. Some were very curious, feeling the crunchiness or smoothness of the leaves, while others enjoyed sticking them down. It was a lovely sensory experience that brought a bit of the outdoors inside.

Autumn walks help children learn in many ways:
Communication and Language- talking about what they see and hear
Physical Development – walking, running, picking up leaves.
Understanding the World – learning about nature and the seasons.
Expressive Arts and Design – making art with leaves and other natural items.

Today in preschool the children were learning all about recycling. The children spoke about why we recycle and how they can do it away from nursery. The children had the opportunity to work in groups to sort though and understand different materials. They then were able to recycle the materials into the different colour pockets to show how to recycle.

Learning about the environment and recycling in the Early Years doesn't just help children get to grips with the natural world. It also builds a foundation of respect and care as they grow older. They can be encouraged to look after their own environment and the wider world.

Today in preschool we were learning all about different insects. The children had the opportunity to explore the insects and match them to the pictures. We spoke about where we would find them and how they each move.

This activity reminds children that they are there to look and observe, not to destroy. By learning about minibeasts EYFS children will be able to explore all their senses outside as well as developing personal, social and emotional skills.

Caterpillar room are doing playdough manipulation today.
We will be squishing and squashing with our hands and having a go of using some tools.
Playdough can help children to
develop hand, eye, arm and body coordination and finger and hand muscles through squeezing, patting, pounding, rolling, poking and pinching, cutting with scissors.

Painting dafodills. This week in caterpillar room we we have been painting some dafodills to put on our spring display.

Today we have been celebrating the start of Ramadan. The pre school children enjoyed making cards for their families and talking about special times we share with our mums and dad's and what we are grateful for.
This links into the EYFS through understanding the world and celebrating all the different festivals.

We would also like to say Ramadan Mubarak wishing all our friends a Ramadan filled with peace and joy.

Preschool were learning all about the meaning of Mothers day. The children used their own imagination and craft skills to create special cards for their mummy's. The children loved getting messy and painting their hands to create pictures for their cards. The children enjoyed talking and telling their friends all the reasons they love their mummy's and want to make them something special.

Mother's Day is a day set aside to express love, respect and thanks to mothers. The day is observed by giving gifts, visiting, or taking mothers out for dinner and celebrations. Many other countries of the world celebrate their own Mother's Day at different times throughout the year.

Today pre school enjoyed our finger gym tuff tray which was filled with different activities all aimed at fine motor skills and to strengthen our finger muscles.

Fine motor skills involve small muscles working with the brain and nervous system to control movements in areas such as the hands, fingers, lips, tongue and eyes. Developing fine motor skills helps children do things like eating, writing, manipulating objects and getting dressed.
