🍎APPLE VOLCANOS🍎

Today the Ba**ers have been involved in science club, and have made apple volcanos! 🌋

The began by having a discussion about how they were going to remove the middle of the apple! With the help of an adult they used an apple corer, pushing down hard until it came through the other side!

They then used a spoon go carefully pour bicarbonate of soda into the apples, before using a pipet to squeeze up the vinegar!

Taking it in turns the Ba**ers then squeezed the vinegar into the apples, causing an amazing explosion! 💥

The children's faces were filled with excitement and wonder when the explosion emerge out the apple, so they did it again and again! 🌋

🚮 LITTER PICKING🚮

During our trip to beach school today the Jabbers noticed that the beach was covered in litter!

The children saw the litter and felt very upset, suggesting that we pick it up before we left! One of the children informed the rest of their friends that we needed to do this to look after the sea animals! 🐬

They worked together looking all around the beach for any peice of litter they could find! Then putting into one of the bags we had bought with us! When the area of the beach we were playing on was clean, the child carried on exploring!

When they left the beach the children pointed out a bin and put the two bags of rubbish they had collected in there!

Well done Jabberwockies, you did an amazing job looking after our environment! 🌏

🚐 A trip to the Woods🚐

The Ba**er room went out in the minibus and headed to one of the local National Trust places...Lytes Cary.
As they walked around the track they followed the numbers and completed the activity that went with the number.
They used their gross motor skills in various ways, climbing, jumping, swinging and balancing as they explored every area of the woods.
They used their senses to hear, see and smell what was around them too.
We are so lucky to be surrounded by nature and the beauty it holds for our little people.

🥣MAKING PLAYDOUGH🥣

This week in the Fawn side of the baby room they have been enjoying play dough!

Play dough is an amazing activity that helps promote the development of those all important fine motor skills! The babies use different tools to explore and manipulate the play dough, even using their fingers to create patterns!

They picked the playdough up and began creating a fist, squeezing the dough between their fingers! The sensory experience was very exciting and they did this again and again!

This also introduces early science as the babies are shown what happens when you add different ingredients together, while hearing new language such as 'combine' and 'disolve'! 🥣

Play dough is a firm favourite here at Jabberwocky, we can't wait to see what the children do with it next! 😆

🌳TAKING RISKS🌳

During their time at forest school the Ba**ers have been getting themselves stuck into some risky play!

It's so important as part of children's development that they are allowed to access and engage in play like this! It helps them to develop a sense of pride and self confidence, while also beginning to understand what their bodies are capable of doing!

The children were exploring the slide, and began adapting they way they would go down! Some sitting on their bottoms and some ever sliding down on their tummies! They then found a ladder, and with the help of an adult began climbing it! When they got to the top you could see the sense of achievement in their faces! After a few trys the banders felt confident to give it a go themselves, while the adults stood near by with words of encouragement!

It's amazing to see what children are able to achieve when they can access actives like this!

🎼BOOGIE BEATS WITH THE BABIES🎼

Every Thursday the children are very lucky to be involved in one of our weekly enhanced provisions... Boogie beats! 😄

A wonderful lady called Nat and her very cheeky monkey called Giggles visit Jabberwocky each week! 🙊

Nat always arrived with a magical and engaging story for the children to get emerced in! The story always involves new and exciting songs and new signs to learn! This week was circus themed! 🎪

There is also songs that Nat sings every week, introducing them in the baby room and by the time they are Jabbers they know them off by heart! 🎤

Boogie beats is a wonderful sensory experience with balancing bean bags, colourful fabrics and the excitement of popping bubbles! 🫧

We look forward to Nat's visits every week and wait with anticipation to see what she has planned next! A firm favourite of the Jabberwocky family! 🎼

🏫NURSERY GRADUATION🏫

On Saturday we welcomed our school leavers and their families into Jabberwocky for our leavers party! 🎉

Everyone enjoyed a special vist from a wonderful lady called Stawberry jam, who preformed a magic show and made everyone an amazing balloon animal! 🎈

They were then able to enjoy spending time with peers and their famies! While getting involved in activities, bubbles, dancing and of course the ice cream van! 🍦

Before we knew it, the time had come for our school leavers to collect their gifts and say their final goodbyes to Jabberwocky! 🎓

The staff at Jabberwocky would like to say a massive thank you to all of our wonderful families, for the heartfelt gifts and more importantly their kind words that will stick with us forever! 💚

A huge good luck to our 2026 school leavers! Every single one of you is so full of joy, curiosity and pure magic, now it's time to go and show the rest of the world how amazing you are! Go smash big school superstars! 🌟

🎨Mark making with the babies🎨

The babies absolutely love mark making, particulary when it involves paint!

Part of our approach here at Jabberwocky is around the Curiosity Approach.
This is an educational philosophy used in mainly nurseries and pre schools and encourages children to learn through exploration, play and discovery rather than through highly structured , adult ~led activities.

The babies had gone to Forest school that morning and gathered some natural resources to use for their mark making , then they got creative ....
And in true baby room style they explored the paint not only with their items but by painting themselves and everything near them🎨
You can safely say they exployed the paint fully with every part of the hands, arms and even faces, they had the best time🎨

👩‍🍳COOKING CLUB👨‍🍳

Today in cooking club the Jabbers have made their very own veggie muffins! 🥕

They started off by independently choosing three vegetables from the kitchen, they picked carrots, sweetcorn and peas! 🫛

They then worked together to weigh out and measure the ingredients, making sure the wet and dry were separate!

When the Jabbers needed to grate the carrot they spoke about how to do this safely! They made sure to hold the grater steady with one hand and with other they held the carrot at the end moving it slowly up and down!

When all the ingredients were ready the Jabbers worked together to combine them! They took it in turns to slowly add and mix the ingredients until the mixture was ready!

A delicious snack enjoyed by all! 😋
