Students and staff at Crispin School are celebrating today as Year 11 students receive their GCSE and vocational qualification results.
Headteacher Lee Cornwall said:
“Today’s results provide an important indication of the strides we have taken as a school over the last academic year. We are particularly proud of the progress made across such a broad range of the curriculum, with the majority of subjects improving their average outcomes compared with last year.
“There have been some particularly significant improvements. Average outcomes in Digital IT have risen by more than a full grade compared with 2025, with similarly impressive progress in Drama, while History outcomes have improved by 0.8 of a grade. We have also made great strides in Combined Science, where average outcomes improved by 0.38 of a grade, alongside particularly strong performance in Biology.
“Importantly, we have also seen progress in some of the areas that matter most to us as a school. The proportion of students achieving a grade 4 or above in both English and Maths has increased by five percentage points, while the average performance of students with SEND has improved by 0.85 of a grade. Outcomes for disadvantaged students have also improved, by an average of 0.28 of a grade.
“There is always more work to do, but these results give us real confidence in the journey the school is on and in the strategy we are pursuing. They also provide invaluable insight into our next steps as we continue to build on the progress made over the last year.
“Most importantly, today is about our students. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, determination and resilience they have shown. I would also like to thank our parents and carers for the support they have given their children and the school throughout their time at Crispin.
“We wish every one of our Year 11 students the very best as they take their next steps into sixth form, college, apprenticeships and beyond.”
Deputy Headteacher Luke Bullock highlighted some of the exceptional individual performances within the cohort:
“There have been some truly exceptional individual results this year. Bryony M achieved an outstanding seven grade 9s alongside two grade 8s and a Level 2 Distinction*, while Dylan H secured six grade 9s, three grade 8s and a grade 7.
“Martha achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s, a grade 7 and a Level 2 Distinction*, while Olivia achieved four grade 9s, four grade 8s and two grade 7s. There were similarly impressive performances from Thomas, with three grade 9s and four grade 8s, and Maddie, who achieved two grade 9s and six grade 8s.
“These are exceptional achievements and those students should be immensely proud. However, results day is about much more than the highest grades. Across the cohort there are students celebrating results which reflect enormous individual progress, perseverance and hard work. For some, a grade 4 represents every bit as significant an achievement as a grade 9 does for another.
“It has been a privilege to see this year group reach this point and we are enormously proud of them. We look forward to seeing what they go on to achieve next.”
