The Swimming Pool Complex comprises of an 8-lane 50m swimming pool (which can also be set to two sets of 25m), a small pool, a large balcony with fitness equipment for land-based training, tiered seating for approximately 600 people, and changing rooms.

After Drowning Prevention Week at Millfield Swimming Pool where our swimmers were taught the principles of water safety it’s important to remember the work to prevent drowning doesn’t stop here.

Our Swim School is dedicated to educate swimmers about water safety and learning the correct techniques which could potentially save your own or another’s life.

Please remind yourselves of the Water Safety Code.

If you fall in, stay calm, float on your back and call for help.

🛟 Tilt your head back and keep your airway clear
🫁 Relax and focus on your breathing
⭐️Spread your arms and legs to stay balanced
🤲 Gently move your hands if needed
📞 Once calm, signal for help or swim to safety

If someone else is in trouble, don’t go in. Throw them something that floats.

Become a Lifeguard at Millfield!

Join our National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) Course this July and earn a recognised qualification + UCAS points!

📅 Monday 27th - Friday 31st July 2026

✅ Pool rescue
✅ First aid & CPR
✅ Emergency response
✅ AED & spinal injury training

Prerequisites:
🛟 Ages 16+
🛟 Swim 50m in under 60 seconds
🛟 Swim 100m continuously (on front then on back)
🛟 Tread water for a minimum of 30 seconds
🛟 Surface dive to the bottom of the pool
🛟 Climb out of the pool unaided

🛟Drowning Prevention Week starts- Monday 15th June! 🛟

For this week, Swimming lessons will revolve around learning how to stay safe in and around water as part of the Royal Life Saving Society UK-RLSS UK Drowning Prevention Week.

All swimmers in Stage 3 and above are invited to wear light pyjamas to their lesson. 🩱🩳🤿

Colouring activity sheets will also be available to swimmers! 🖍️
