Meet... Mr Andrewartha, Lay Chaplain. 'I enjoy being part of a community that sees Christ in one another. My heart is with young people and allowing them to see that they are incredible, loved human beings, and I am glad to have a vital role in making this happen within the School.

My role includes retreats, being a catechist for pupils, staff leader for the and overseeing the juniors in their Chaplaincy sessions.

Outside work I enjoy Marvel, DC and Star Wars. I am a Newcastle United Fan and, as a New Zealander, I support the All Blacks and BlackCaps. I am married with four children, all under ten. We love camping, cycling, kite flying and wildlife watching.'

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Fr Michael Patey to the position of Priest Chaplain. Fr Michael is a priest of the diocese of Northampton and has been teaching at Downside for nearly three years now.

As we embark on this new chapter in Downside’s history, it is hugely encouraging that we are able to appoint from within our community someone with such a deep understanding of and commitment to our Benedictine vision of education.
