🌟🐠 TERRIFIC TUESDAY! 🐠🌟

What a wonderfully busy Tuesday we’ve had at Precious Little Smiles! 💕

🍪 Biscuit making — mixing, creating and, of course, the very important job of tasting!
🐠 A trip to the SEA LIFE Centre — exploring the amazing underwater world and meeting some fascinating sea creatures! 🐟🦈🐙
🚶‍♀️ Out and about in town — enjoying our local community and plenty of fresh air.
🎨 Arts & crafts — lots of creativity, colour and little imaginations at work.
🔤 Phonics fun — learning through songs, sounds, games and play.
🥰 And, most importantly, lots and lots of playing, laughing, exploring and having fun with our friends!

Another action-packed day of Learning Without Walls — because there is always an adventure to be had on a nursery day 🌎✨

What a brilliant first week of Autumn term!

🍂🌈 A New Term, New Adventures at PLS! 🌈🍂

We’re open and learning all year round, but the start of a new term always brings a little refresh — new topics, new resources, new experiences and lots of new adventures to explore! ❤️💛💚💙

Our first topic for Autumn Term is All About Me, and this week we’ve been exploring what makes every one of us unique. 🥰

We’ve learnt about our faces, features and body parts, played games identifying and matching them, and had lots of fun exploring feelings and emotions. 😊😢😡😮 We’ve talked about what different emotions look like, how our faces change when we feel them and how we can begin to recognise and communicate our own feelings.

There’s been plenty of hands-on learning too, with new resources arriving for the new term and lots of opportunities for building, problem-solving, experimenting, balancing, creating and developing those all-important fine and gross motor skills. 🧩🧱

And, of course, Learning Without Walls has taken us far beyond the nursery! 🎒🌎

We’ve enjoyed a STEM session, explored the Motor Museum, experimented, constructed and investigated, visited Compton Verney, taken in the incredible views from the RSC Tower, spotted familiar places from high above Stratford and enjoyed riverside walks through our local community. 🚗🔬🏛️🌳

Trips like these aren’t an “extra” to our learning — they are part of it. ❤️ Children learn by doing, touching, seeing, questioning, talking, moving and experiencing the world for themselves. One moment we’re learning about emotions together at nursery; the next we’re looking out across Stratford from the top of the RSC Tower or investigating how things move at the museum.

That’s exactly what Learning Without Walls is all about. 🌈

What a fabulous start to our Autumn Term 2026 — and this is only week one! 🍂❤️

☀️ Learning to Stay Safe in the Sun! 🧴💦

As part of our sun-safety topic, we have been learning how and why we use sun cream.

We started by practising on our baby dolls, carefully applying the cream and talking about which parts of our bodies need protecting. Once we had mastered looking after our babies, it was time to practise on ourselves!

We also explored what happens when sun cream meets water. 💦 We demonstrated how being in the pool or sea can reduce the protection from our sun cream, helping the children understand why we need to dry off and reapply it after swimming or water play.

It was a simple, practical way of helping the children understand why we do something rather than simply telling them to do it — building important self-care, independence and personal safety skills from an early age.

🏖️ Sand, Sand & More Sand! 🪣☀️

Last week we took our learning outside with a trip to the giant sandpit — because sometimes the very best learning is messy, sandy and outdoors!

Sand play offers so many opportunities for development. Digging, scooping, pouring and carrying help to build strength, coordination and fine motor skills, while filling containers, making shapes and building structures introduces early maths concepts such as size, capacity, quantity and comparison.

It’s also wonderful for imagination, problem solving, communication and teamwork as children share ideas, create together and explore what happens when they experiment.

Just another example of our Learning Without Walls approach — taking learning beyond the nursery and into the world around us. 💛

😎 Sunshine, sunglasses & creativity! ☀️

Last week our topic was all about staying safe in the sun, including why we wear sun cream and sunglasses.

We challenged the children to use resources that we play with every day to design and build their very own sunglasses — and we think they did a fantastic job! 🕶️✨

A simple activity packed with EYFS learning: fine motor skills, creativity, problem solving, making connections and understanding how we look after our bodies. 🌈

☀️ The World Below! ☀️

Yesterday we enjoyed a sunshine-filled adventure to the RSC Tower! We travelled up to the viewing platform, an amazing 32 metres above the ground, to survey the world below.

From high above Stratford-upon-Avon, the children carefully observed the River Avon and counted the different things they could see below, including boats, swans, ducks and people enjoying the sunshine. We compared sizes and noticed how tiny everything looked from so high up!

Some of the children could even feel the tower moving ever so slightly—a fascinating discovery and a wonderful opportunity to talk about tall buildings, balance and how structures respond to the wind.

A brilliant real-world learning experience filled with counting, observation, new vocabulary and spectacular views! 🔭🦢🚤🏙️

🏖️ Kinetic Sand Fun! 🏖️

Our children have loved exploring kinetic sand this week! 🙌

Squishing, squeezing, scooping and moulding is not only great fun, it supports fine motor strength, hand-eye coordination, sensory development and early writing skills.

It’s also a lovely calming activity, encouraging focus, creativity, problem-solving and lots of new vocabulary as children explore and create.

Simple play, BIG learning! 💛✨

Well done, England. ❤️🤍💙

Tonight reminded us of something we value every day at Precious Little Smiles. The Characteristics of Effective Learning aren’t about always winning—they’re about playing and not giving up,creating and thinking critically.

Resilience, determination, teamwork and never giving up are the qualities that help children adults and even the England team grow.

We’re sure our little ones will see England lift a major trophy in their lifetime. This time just wasn’t our time.

Now let’s go and bring home third place. Out of the best teams in the world, that’s nothing to be ashamed of. There is still a prize to be had!

Sometimes the greatest lessons don’t come from winning—they come from finding the courage to keep believing. ⚽❤️🤍💙
