🍐🍎AccessibleArt in Rural Communities 🍎🍐

Tonight I had the pleasure of getting creative once again with the talented residents of Barrhill! This month we experimented with Pointillism! The art of using colourful dots to build up and create an image.

We focussed on fruit and played with different sized dots to emphasize perspective and depth.

I’m sure you agree there’s some cracking pear bums captured!

I attended the Poetry Translations Masterclass held online by our Makar Peter McKay, hosted by !

The session included several activities including random choice of a word from a different language…. I chose word 22 which was Duende, a Spanish word with an interesting history! I shall now be scouring charity shops for random dictionaries to source new words to write about. (When I have time of course!)

🤔Where has this year gone? 🤔

It’s been incredibly busy over at here AccessibleArt HQ! My 5th year started with a bang and simply hasn’t slowed yet!

But don’t worry, you’ll still me around in my (Tetris) car facilitating workshops regularly. It’s just that some of my classes now have their own private groups and so I’ve been posting on them instead of here.

❓❓So where can you find me?

🗓️Tuesdays: Portpatrick Community Development Trust, with the Budding Artists at Portpatrick community hall. Class is from 10am - 12noon, weekly.

🗓️Monday 25th May: Creative writing workshop as part of the Selkie Soul Monthly Sessions. 12-2pm - see Lianne Brown for more information.

🗓️Last Friday of each month: Barrhill Development Trust, Barrhill community hall. Class is from 6pm-8pm.

🗓️Thursday 28th May: DGMEFM Network (support for ME, CFS, Fibro, Long Covid), Castle Douglas Community centre, 1pm-3pm

🗓️Wednesday 10th June (TBC): Outside In Artists support session, Stranraer Millennium Centre. Slots will be available for booking soon, watch this space 👀

🗓️ Thursdays in June: Art Attack after school sessions at St Joseph’s Primary, Stranraer.

Otherwise I’m spending most of my week Millennium Centre Youth where we offer several after school classes. Pop over and have a look, especially if you have a young person who is arty and would like to get creative with others!

What a talented bunch of young people to work with! Stranraer is bursting at the seems with pure talent!

🎨🎨Sketchbook Socials!🎨🎨

Our Sketchbook Socials group have decided their next project will be all about our area and its history! We were delving into 3 main local visitors and icons; Mary Queen O Scots, Robert the Bruce and Sir John Ross!

We are researching over the next few weeks and will be visiting the Museum and St Johns castle to get some ideas!

If you have a young person who for them, ART is LIFE! Send them along to enjoy some sketching, banter and a soundtrack. Well be at the Stranraer Millennium Centre on Mondays from 4-6pm.

This group is suitable for 10+.

🔎Millennium Youth Guild of Players are hosting their first Murder Mystery!🔍

There's been a MURDUR on The Disorientated Express! On its way from Istanbul to Constantinople, the body of world renowned rocket scientist Werner Van Black has been found! While the train is waiting at the station Byzantium, Inspector Pearse interagates the trains inhabitants including a Russian inventor Ivana Ego, can can dancer Kiki D'Leggs and hairdresser Herr Kutt are among the suspects. But who done the dreaded dead?

Can you guess who the murderer is?

Come along and enjoy some 1st class entertainment, a fabulous buffet and guess the murderer! Only £15pp for what will be a fabulous evening fundraising for the MC Guild of Players.
