Our pupils, as stakeholders, play a very active role in our school community and we endeavour to ensure our pupil voice is heard. Over the last number of weeks, the boys and girls have been busy preparing speeches for our recent committee elections and we are pleased to have our 2026/27 committees now fully constituted.
First up, we would like to introduce our ‘Active Travel and Wellbeing Champions’. This group of children will work alongside Mrs Fitzsimons to lead a range of Active Travel initiatives throughout the year. They will also support her in embedding the EA’s ‘Being Well Doing Well’ programme, which is a Whole School Approach to Emotional Health & Wellbeing.
“A Mentally Healthy School is one that adopts a Whole School Approach to mental health and wellbeing which helps pupils to flourish, learn and succeed.” (Anna Freud, National Centre for Children and Families.)

🌳 Forest School 🌳
P4 and P5 had a wonderful morning at Forest School. They foraged for natural resources to create fabric pictures by extracting the pigment from petals, berries and leaves. They enjoyed climbing up the rope ladder and swinging from the ivy vines! 🙂

As part of our Literacy Action Planning, we are focusing on developing pupils’ Oracy through our whole school focus on Poetry throughout 2026/27.
The explicit teaching of poetry helps children find their voice, expand their vocabulary, develop imagination and express their thoughts and feelings in creative ways. Through weekly exposure to a wide variety of poetry, we give pupils the tools to read, recite, perform and enjoy language with confidence. A love of poetry can inspire a lifetime love of reading and writing. To celebrate National Poetry Day, we held a whole school assembly this morning, to showcase some of the wonderful poetry we have explored so far on this learning journey. Each class performed brilliantly- we hope you enjoy this little snippet of the talent that was on display! Well done everyone!
