It's been a while since I've updated my page and I apologise! It's been a crazy year and it's difficult to believe that 2024 is coming to an end.
With that in mind, I just wanted to remind you all of how vital an irlen screening can be, especially if your youngsters are heading towards exams.
A simple screening can:
● lead to extra time being awarded
● ensure a laptop or scribe is provided
● It will ensure that the correct coloured paper is used to print their exams on
● a tinted overlay is provided by me to support with reading tasks.
● If tinted lenses are recommended, I can refer you directly to our local diagnosticians who will be able to identify the correct lense tint and order the frames.
If your young person (or yourself!)is struggling with any of the symptoms listed on my page, please do contact me for advice and to arrange a screening.. one simple process, less than an hour of your time, but can make a whole world of difference 🌎 I also offer discounts for multiple screenings on one visit.

Just to let you all know that I am still actively screening, although I have been terrible at keeping the page up to date!
A screening takes no longer than an hour and you will receive a full report with my findings and recommendations.
Please message me for enquiries.

Good evening I would be hugely grateful to anyone who can support this fundraising event! On 2nd June, myself, my daughter, her partner and my mum will be walking the River Gipping from Stowmarket to Claydon along with a bunch of staff, volunteers and young people from The Mix. We are going for Boots and Ballgowns as our theme and aim to raise a futher £250 to help ensure this first ever Prom is a success. Just £7 will cover the catering for 1 guest, so if you can spare a few pennies I'd be eternally grateful 💖
Help raise £500 to Help support The Mix in Stowmarket with funding their first ever Leaver's Prom for those unable to attend school.

Hi all,
Thank you to everyone who attended our spring fair last weekend! We raised just over £150!!.. but we still need a little more and I would be extremely grateful if you could consider donating as little or as much as you can.
As you know, we have many local children who are unable to attend mainstream education and this can be for a number of reasons. To enable them to experience their very own Prom would be a dream come true.
The Mix's policy is that no child should have to pay to access their services, whether it be attending a drop in or receiving help and support through their many avenues. This means this event is completely free to those who will be attending.
Please consider dropping a few pennies our way. Thank you so much 💗

Mileage is charged at 45p per mile after the first 5 miles from my home. Please share far and wide so I can help as many families as I can :-)

The below quote really resonated with me today. Watching my own children go through the battles to be seen, heard and understood at school was so tough, but knowing they had me and my husband advocating for them gave them the strength and confidence to voice what they needed and stand firm. It was never plain sailing and I am very relieved that they have both achieved so much over the years with love and support ❤️
Irlen can have such an impact on confidence, self esteem and can cause anxieties and mental health issues. It's why I'm so passionate about getting it addressed.
Happy Easter to you all.

So with many of our Yr 11's preparing for their exams, a lot of them.. and us! Are thinking 'What's next'?!
Well, we are also in this conundrum with our youngest now embarking on her own GCSE journey. But the most important part of this process for us, is her mental well being and ensuring she has all the tools she needs to feel supported during this stressful time. Part of her tools will be extra time and the use of a laptop for her exams, which she was awarded due to her Irlen and Dyslexia. Many people are unaware that Irlen Syndrome falls under the Equality Act, which means educational settings and work placements MUST make reasonable adjustments. This means that if your child obtains a positive diagnosis for the condition, they should be assessed for access arrangements and awarded any extra time, or additional support to enable them to sit their exams. I would encourage any parent with a Yr 9 or 10 student with symptoms of Irlen to arrange a screening, this will ensure both the student and the school have sufficient time to make any adjustments needed prior to Mocks and then finals.
What's next?.. Well, who knows what will become of your youngsters! But one thing's for sure, if you set them up with the right tools and strategies they can only go from strength to strength 💪
