Poppys Children's Day Care Nursery

Wow, these emotional weeks come round all too quickly!

We are truly blessed with our amazing families and children we have the pleasure the get to know. And it never gets any easier to say farewell. ❤️

It has been so much fun watching them play and learn. You are all superstars 🌟

Thank you so much for all our wonderful thoughtful gifts. We will miss you all. 😊

The Summer term has come to an end, and the Summer holidays have come around again!☀️

The babies have been making a splash whilst focusing on their 'water' topic💦, and have enjoyed practicing their pouring skills and exploring bubbles🫧as well as painting the fence! They have also focused on some season themed activities, such as a rainbow oats tray and an oobleck messy tray!🌈

Meanwhile, the older children have been busy carrying out activities based on their topic, 'minibeasts'🪱🦗. Not only have they hunted for insects in a soil tray, but they have also created their own fossils with playdough and joined in with a bird feeding activity!🐦we have also been beating the heat with some ice and water play!🧊

We would like to wish all of our school leavers the very best of luck on your new adventures to big school, and wish everybody a lovely Summer!☀️we look forward to welcoming our remaining children back on Friday 4th September😊

☀️Tips for the heat!☀️

We have been super busy carrying out various activities for the first half of the Summer term!☀️🌻

The topic on the older side has been 'Growing', which has seen the older children explore various tuff tray activities such as a vegetable tray, and they have also planted their own tomato seeds and made bird feeders!🥕🍅🐦they have also been carrying out Spring themed activities, including asparagus painting, making their own flower soup and carrying out a raincloud experiment!🌸🌧

Meanwhile, the babies have carried out activities based on their 'food and drink' topic, which has seen them explore frozen foods, fruits and vegetables, before moving on to drink themed activities with citrus water play and teabag painting!🍓🥔☕️they too have explored the season of Spring with activities including a 'grass' flower garden, flower stain glass pictures and planting their own coriander seeds!🌱🌸

The second half of the Summer term begins on Monday 1st June, where the older children will explore their 'Minibeasts' topic, whilst the babies will be making a splash with their 'Water' topic activities!🦗💧this will also be the last half term with our school leavers!😢

We had some fluffy visitors at nursery this morning!😍🐥

Chiara's mum brought some chicks in for the children to see!🐤the children were so brave holding them, and they laughed lots when they kept jumping to try and fly! The children also got to watch a video of the chicks hatching out of their shells, and got to feed them some food in their pen!🤩

The children have enjoyed celebrating St. George's Day today by decorating their own England flags!

Easter 2026🐣celebrated with some Easter wreaths, some yummy hot cross buns at snack time, and an Easter egg hunt this afternoon!🥚🐰

The Spring term is over, and the Easter holidays are here!🐰🌷we've had lots of fun activities going on during the second half of this term!

The topic in the baby room has been based on 'animals', with Chiara and the babies exploring animals that are kept as pets, as well as animals found on the farm and in the jungle!🐶🐷🦍They have loved playing with ocean animal sensory bags and lifting flaps to find zoo animals!🐠🐘As well as this, the babies have also continued some Winter themed activities❄️☃️

Meanwhile, Abbie, Lucy and Sophie have been busy with the older children carrying out lots of activities based on their 'farm' topic! The older children have loved playing in various tuff tray activities such as a 'squash and a squeeze' tray and a chicken life cycle tray🐮🐔and have also put their sheep sheering skills to the test!🐑their 'farm' topic has also allowed the children to make their own pizzas whilst talking about the ingredients they are using and which animal provides them for us!🍕
