As part of our transition work with Nelson Mandela Primary School, Year 6 spent a fantastic day learning about their school and local community. In the morning, we visited their local mosque, where the children learned about its features and the importance of Islam. Whilst there, we enjoyed tasting traditional snacks, including samosas and pakoras.

It was a real joy to learn about and discuss life in such a multicultural school community, giving the children valuable insight into different cultures and traditions.

In the afternoon, the children worked together to create colourful Eid decorations. It was wonderful to see pupils from both schools collaborating, sharing ideas and making new friendships. The children represented Astley exceptionally well throughout the visit and were a credit to the school.

Children from Willow and Elm had a fantastic day visiting the Birmingham Central Synagogue. The children were incredibly calm and respectful of their environment and were able to share so much of their learning as well as learning so many new things! They listened well and asked some super questions.

"It was amazing to the scrolls because they were so much bigger than we imagined" - Hope
"I liked looking at the shofar horn and I was able to make it make a sound!" - Albie
"I like looking at all the different rooms and just loved the Synagogue!" - Chloe

New Visitors to our Forest School!
We are very excited to let you know we have now installed our hedgehog tunnel at school! This allows us to view what animals are visiting the site by leaving an ink footprint. Our Year two students installed it last week and Year 4 students have now checked the tunnel and found Hazel Dormouse footprints! Watch this space for more updates!
