The concrete blocks that have appeared, mark what we believe is the outline of the original body of the church and chancel from the geophysics carried out a couple of years ago.
Not totally accurate because the evidence indicates that it was wider in the direction of the current path, but unfortunately not confirmed by the geophysics.
Magdalen Tower Stony Stratford
The conservation of the Tower of Church of St Mary Magdalene in Stony Stratford is now as complete as it's possible to be without more funding. Anyone?
To re-point the bottom half will cost at least £20,000. The conservation of the Tower of Church of St Mary Magdalene is now almost complete. This page is one of several ways news will be spread about what has been decided should be done to the tower. A structural survey was carried out, with some x-rays were done to determine the condition of the gargoyles. Here are some links about the tower

The idea of lighting the tower, is now far less likely to happen.
It should be noted that 'Historic England' have been particularly helpful with our application for 'Scheduled Monument Consent',
they are fully supportive and in favour of our project. They have in principal given the application consent, subject to certain conditions, but unfortunately meeting these would incur extra finance.
An application was also made to MKC for a very small part of the Arts Section 106 grant from ‘Elizabeth House’ to enable the tower to be opened and used for small group community use, schools, storytelling etc, but that has been currently rejected!

The floodlight test went ahead as planned, and everyone who was there seemed to be suitably impressed. If it's decided to install the lights permanently, I'll post it on here.
Weather permitting, a floodlight test is planned for Monday 21st sometime after 6.30 pm as soon as it's dark enough.

Ray & Mary did a bit of clearing in the tower this afternoon (27-03-19). The plan is to eventually make it clean enough to enable the public (particularly school children) to enter it for talks on the history of the tower.
