Governors are some of the unsung heroes of our schools.

They give their time, expertise and commitment to support our schools, children, families and communities – often behind the scenes, but with a lasting impact.

Across Areté Learning Trust, we’re fortunate to have so many dedicated governors. This month, we’re particularly proud to celebrate Marc Mason, a governor at Stokesley School and Sixth Form College, who is preparing to complete an extraordinary challenge: his 100th marathon.

Even more special, Marc will be joined by his two sons as he crosses the finish line of marathon number 100. 🏃‍♂️🏅

The determination, resilience and commitment that have taken Marc to this incredible milestone are qualities he also brings to his role as a governor, supporting our school and championing young people.

Marc is also raising money for the Middlesbrough MS Therapy Centre, supporting people living with MS and other neurological conditions.

We’d like to thank Marc, and all our governors, for everything they give to our schools and communities. We’ll certainly be cheering Marc on for marathon number 100!

📚 A new academic year is underway across Areté Learning Trust!

Last week, we welcomed students and staff back to Nunthorpe School & Sixth Form, and this week it has been fantastic to see all of our schools open their doors for the start of another year of learning, opportunity and growth.

There’s always something exciting about the start of a new school year. Over the summer, our colleagues have been busy preparing classrooms, planning for the year ahead and making sure our schools are ready to give every child and young person the very best experience.

There’s plenty to look forward to this year — from continuing to strengthen teaching and learning and collaboration across our schools, to developing exciting initiatives including Areté Learning Exchange and Areté Communities.

A huge thank you to all of our staff for the care, commitment and hard work that goes into making the start of a new year possible. Here’s to a brilliant year ahead!

As another academic year comes to a close, we'd like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a fantastic final term across Areté Learning Trust.

To every member of staff in our schools – thank you. Your passion, commitment and dedication have made a real difference to the lives of our children and young people this year. We are incredibly fortunate to have such talented teams who work tirelessly to help every pupil thrive, achieve and reach their full potential.

We hope you all enjoy a well-deserved summer break, taking time to rest, recharge and celebrate everything you've accomplished.

While many of our school colleagues take a deserved break, we'd also like to recognise and thank our Trust staff who continue working throughout the summer. From our Estates and Catering teams to IT, Finance, HR, Marketing and all of our central services, your work behind the scenes is vital in preparing our schools for another successful academic year, and we are grateful for everything you do.
