What a fantastic DT project from Class 1!
Over the past few weeks, the children have been learning about mechanisms and sliders. They used their skills to design and make their own sliding phonics games for our Reception pupils.

On Monday, they put their games to the test with Reception, and there was plenty of learning, laughter and fun all around. Well done, Class 1!⭐️

A huge thank you to the PTFA for funding a great experience for our KS2 children! The Virtual Reality workshop was a huge success today: Mount Everest was climbed; Ancient Rome visited; the Greeks were investigated and some even checked in on the pyramids too! It was great to see the wonder that was created!

⭐️ KS1 Celebration Assembly ⭐️

Every Friday gives us the wonderful time of the week where we come together to celebrate the children’s amazing achievements. Today was no exception!

Birthday celebrations began our assembly and then we moved onto the awards brought in from home for our talented swimmers, dancers, gymnast and martial artist. Keep up the fantastic work! 🥳

Well done to our golden moment winners for their shining efforts throughout the week. Lots of hard work being demonstrated. 🤩

Also another congratulations must be said again to our role models of the week for living out the Catholic virtue of being attentive.

Lastly, we finished with Mr Killeen’s special mission award and there were lots of pupils to choose from who have set an inspiring example to others. This week it went to Dylan in Year 2. He stepped up to the challenge of being like Jesus by showing kindness to all and was seen to be regularly celebrating everyone’s successes. A supportive and wonderful pupil to have at St Filumenas. ✝️

See you next week for KS2’s celebration assembly!

Year 1 and Year 2 had a brilliant time at the National Adventure Farm! 🤩

They swung, slid and climbed their way around the indoor play. They explored for ‘pests and friends’ in their plant workshop. They bleated their hearts out when searching for ‘celebrity sheep’ on their tractor ride. They even found the time and energy to test out the adventure playgrounds which included a huge inflatable bouncy hill! 😍

It was a terrific time of getting active and learning about plants on the farm! 🌱

Yesterday, all classes in school had the opportunity to take part in the ‘Chance to Shine‘ cricket day led by coaches from Caverswall Cricket Club 🏏

It was a fantastic day thoroughly enjoyed by all from Reception all the way up to Class 6! We definitely have some budding cricketers on our hands! ⭐️🏏

Today, the Year 1 classroom was converted into Mrs Makinson’s shop! 💰

The children were introduced to their new topic of money by recognising different coins and using them to pay for a range of items. They enjoyed using their new maths learning in a practical way and they are looking forward to trying out their new skills in real life! Well done Year 1!

What an incredible day our Year 5 children had yesterday on their trip to London! 🇬🇧

After an early train journey, we arrived at the Houses of Parliament where we enjoyed a fascinating tour of this historic building. The children had the exciting opportunity to step inside both the House of Lords and the House of Commons, learning all about how laws are made and how our country is governed.

Following the tour, the children took part in an engaging workshop where they put their knowledge to the test and impressed us with their enthusiasm and understanding.

The adventure didn't stop there! We then enjoyed a walking tour of some of London's most famous sights, expertly guided by Mr Killeen, before heading back to the station for our journey home.

It was a fantastic experience and we are incredibly proud of all of our Year 5 children, who were a credit to the school throughout the day.

⭐️KS2 Celebration Assembly⭐️

What a wonderful celebration we have had this afternoon with our KS2 children. The children brought in lots of exciting awards to show everyone, including achievements from ice skating, netball, football and running. What a super talented group of children we have in KS2!

A big congratulations to all of our Golden Moment winners. You have truly spread joy in your classes and around the school this week. Keep it up- it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

Well done to our Role Models of the Week for living out the Catholic virtues of being attentive and discerning. You have set a wonderful example to all around school this week.

A big well done to Jack in Year 3 for carrying out our mission this week to welcome Jesus into our lives and follow in his footsteps. He showed reverence during his time at Alton Castle this week and demonstrated his commitment to his faith during his First Holy Communion last Sunday.✝️

Y6 are now back from what has been an absolutely incredible few days on residential at Boreatton Park. They were a total joy to be with and staff loved watching them look after one another, conquer fears, grow in independence and form new friendships. They have certainly created happy memories that will last a lifetime!

What a fantastic few days celebrating our Year 3 Holy Communion!

We started on Friday with an online retreat led by Dan and Emily, where the children sang, prayed, reflected, and thought about what it means to sit at God's table as they prepared for their special day.

Sunday was the big day, and it was wonderful to see the children receive their First Holy Communion. They all looked amazing, and we couldn't have been prouder of them.

The celebrations continued on Monday with a class party (and plenty of food!), lots of laughter, and time to celebrate together.

To top it all off, we spent today at Alton Castle, enjoying a day of fun, friendship, and faith!

A huge well done to all of our Year 3 children. It has been such a special journey, and we are so proud of everything they have achieved. 🤍✝️
