This is a practical production course, which is aimed at students who wish to expand their artistic and creative horizons. The course uses facilities in the University’s media production centre, which houses purpose-built sound studios and TV studios, with Industry standard audio and video post-production facilities. All in High Definition. (HD) The course develops your practical filmmaking skills and explores the historical and contemporary development of experimental film and video art. Throughout the year we have a variety of industry speakers, artists and visitors from successful graduates now working in the industry to leading figures we respect and admire. The emphasis is on producing innovative and creative films in the areas of experimental film via technical, conceptual and aesthetic exploration. You will develop ideas and creativity, to challenge audience perceptions of traditional filmmaking. We are accredited by Creative Skillset, the industry kitemark of quality. The Creative Skillset Tick is awarded to practice-based courses which best prepare students for a career in the industry. Within your studies you take part in a number of field trips as part of the course from a 3 day location shoot in the lake district to a 5 day visit to the biggest short film festival in the world Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. We also visit UK film festivals and art galleries.
