ILP Men's Meet Up 👥

Today was the second week of our Men's Meet Up club for the young men in the Independent Living Pathway. This week, we spoke about what it really means to be a 'manly man', breaking down stereotypes and having some great discussion! It's been so popular, we needed to find a new classroom to fit everyone in!

🌟 Alumni Success Story! 🌟

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming back former student Josh, who returned to share his inspiring journey with our learners.

Josh has recently completed his Degree in IT and is now beginning a Master's degree in Assistive Technologies. During his visit, he spoke openly about his experiences and the challenges he faced along the way. His key message was simple but powerful: keep going, never give up, and remember that while barriers may arise, there are always ways to overcome them and achieve your goals.

Our learners were incredibly inspired by Josh's determination, resilience, and success. We are very proud of everything he has achieved and look forward to staying in touch and following the next steps of his journey.

As a college, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our former students and the positive impact they continue to have on our current learners.

👀 Keep your eyes peeled for more alumni events in the future!

Sign of the Week 👐

This week's sign is 'friends', expertly demonstrated by our very own Chloe. Why not use this in conversation throughout the week? As a student commented on our last Facebook post: "sign language is for everyone"

Yesterday, our Canal & River Trust group were busy at Harecastle Tunnel, helping to prepare the site for the popular 'Scracecastle' Halloween event, which welcomes thousands of visitors every year.

Through their work on site, learners continue to gain hands-on experience and develop important employability skills, including communication, teamwork, and community engagement while working alongside the Canal & River Trust 🤝

What a setting for a learning session! The Conservation Group has teamed up with the National Trust to collect seeds from native trees around Ilam in the Peak District, National Trust. These will be planted across the White Peak area to support habitat restoration and rewilding initiatives.
