🌊🐠 World Ocean Day 2026 🐠🌊

Today we have been celebrating World Ocean Day and taking time to learn about the amazing oceans that cover much of our planet.

At The Little Den, we believe it is important for children to develop an understanding of the world around them and how they can help to care for it. Through discussions, stories, sensory experiences, creative activities, and exploring sea life, children can begin to learn about the importance of our oceans and the role they play in supporting life on Earth.

Teaching children about sustainability from an early age helps them to develop respect for nature and understand that even small actions can make a big difference. By learning about reducing waste, recycling, and protecting marine habitats, children begin to recognise how we can all help to keep our oceans clean and healthy for future generations. 🌍♻️

Today we will be exploring the wonders of the ocean, discovering fascinating sea creatures, and talking about simple ways we can help protect our blue planet.

Together, we can inspire the next generation to care for our environment and become champions for a more sustainable future. 💚

🦋Our Butterfly Adventure🦋

What a wonderful journey it has been watching our butterflies grow and transform! From tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies, the children have enjoyed observing each stage of the life cycle and learning all about these amazing creatures. 🐛➡️🦋

Today, we said goodbye as we released our butterflies into the world. The children watched in awe as they spread their wings and flew away, creating a truly magical moment for everyone. ✨

This experience has encouraged curiosity, patience, and a love for nature, while helping the children develop their understanding of the world around them. 🌎

Goodbye, butterflies, and thank you for the wonderful memories! 🦋🌿💫

✨ Let’s Explore All Things Shiny… ✨

Written by our wonderful Sian- This morning, our Baby Bears followed their fascination with our hanging disco ball by exploring a wonderful shiny sensory basket 🌟

Together, we searched around the room to collect different shiny objects, creating an intriguing basket full of exciting treasures. The children loved exploring the variety of textures and sounds, while watching the beautiful reflections shimmer and shine around them ✨

It was so lovely to see our Baby Bears confidently engaging, experimenting with sounds and textures, and playing alongside one another. We saw lots of sharing, turn-taking, chatter and plenty of smiles 💛

🌸 Spring Bouquets with our Baby Bears 🌸

Our Baby Bears children have had a wonderful time exploring their creativity as they carefully selected flowers to create their very own spring bouquets. 🌼

The children showed fantastic hand-eye coordination as they threaded each flower onto the stands, concentrating as they positioned them through different sized holes. We were so impressed with their focus and determination!

Our younger Baby Bears particularly enjoyed exploring the soft textures of the petals, gently feeling and investigating them with their fingers. It was lovely to see them developing their fine motor skills as they pulled the flowers in and out of the holes.

This activity was full of teamwork, with the children taking turns and working together to build their beautiful bouquets. 💛

What a delightful spring creation you have all made – well done to our Baby Bears! 🌷✨

🧱 Our Outdoor Construction Area 🧱

We have recently created a construction area in our garden where the children can build, explore and learn through play. As a team, we shared ideas and worked together to design an inviting space full of opportunities for creativity and discovery.

A huge thank you to our wonderful parents and community who kindly donated authentic resources to help bring this area to life- we are incredibly grateful for your support.

Construction play supports children’s physical development, problem-solving, creativity and teamwork as they build, stack, balance and explore new ideas together.

We can’t wait to see how the children’s imaginations grow and develop in this exciting new space! ✨

There are a few additional ingredients you may need to add at home, which will be listed on the bag or shown on the little picture card placed inside.

A sprinkle of sugar, a dash of love,
A cookie that fits just like a glove.
Crisp and sweet, a perfect bite,
Baking together feels just right 🍪

Happy Baking! 🍪
