Blood, sweat and... brilliant science!

A huge well done to 10Y5 today, who have been learning all about the four components of blood in their Science lesson. From red blood cells and white blood cells to platelets and plasma, students explored the important jobs each part plays in keeping our bodies healthy.

To bring their learning to life, they created some fantastic models, demonstrating both their scientific understanding and creativity. The results were truly impressive!

We love seeing our students making learning engaging, hands-on and memorable. Keep up the great work, 10Y5!

Full Time: Haywood Academy 2-2 Birches Head

A hard-fought point against a strong Birches side, but it definitely feels like two points dropped after being so close to taking all three!

The lads showed great character, determination and quality throughout the game.

While a draw against a tough team is a respectable result, there was a real feeling in the camp that we deserved more from the match.

This Hello Yellow Week, we're highlighting the important connection between mental health and family life.

When families are facing financial pressures, worries about food costs can have a real impact on wellbeing. Remember, if you or someone you know is struggling, support is available locally and reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness.

A reminder for everyone: meals don't need to be perfect. On difficult days, fed is enough.

Let's continue to look after ourselves and each other, and help raise awareness of the support available in our community.

This morning marked our very first Senior Prefect and Principal Breakfast Meeting!

These regular meetings provide a valuable opportunity to gather student voice, celebrate successes, discuss ideas for school improvement, and ensure our students play an active role in shaping their school community.

Over breakfast, our Senior Prefects shared their thoughts, experiences and aspirations, helping us to continue building a school where every student feels heard, valued and empowered.

We look forward to many more productive conversations throughout the year and working together to make a positive difference across our school.

Financial worries can affect more than just our bank balance. Stress about bills, housing, food costs or debt can have a significant impact on our mental health, sleep and relationships.
Remember, if money worries are becoming overwhelming, you do not have to face them alone. Reaching out for support is a positive step towards protecting your wellbeing and finding practical solutions.

There is help available locally for families, including advice on budgeting, benefits, debt and household costs.

Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Talking isn't always easy, especially when life feels stressful. Sometimes, the most important thing we can do is take a few minutes to check in with someone we trust.

This , we're reminding our Haywood Academy community that communication matters. You don't need to have all the answers, and you don't need to solve every problem. Sometimes, simply being heard is enough.

Let's continue to create a culture where everyone feels safe to talk, listen and support one another.

As part of Mental Health Week, our amazing 11CDA students have been spreading kindness and positivity across Haywood!

To help promote a sense of support, belonging and community, students left uplifting messages and words of encouragement on desks in our computer rooms.

These thoughtful notes reminded everyone that it's okay to have difficult days, that mental health matters, and that no one should face challenges alone.

It was wonderful to see such compassion and empathy from our students. These small acts of kindness had a big impact, brightening the day for many and reinforcing an important message: at Haywood, we look out for one another.

A huge well done to 11CDA for helping to create a positive and supportive environment for all.
