Lately I’ve been talking a lot about the *two voices* that show up when you’re exploring your relationship with alcohol. Mine were like a mini war raging in my head before I quit alcohol.
One is loud, familiar, and convincing - the wine witch, or the alcohol voice.
The one that says:
“You’ve had a long day, one won’t hurt.”
“You’re overthinking it.”
“Everyone else is drinking… just join in.”
It’s persistent because it’s built from old habits, old patterns, old comfort.
But then there’s the other voice, the quieter one.
The one that whispers things like:
“I don’t like how this makes me feel.”
“I want more for myself.”
“I think I’d be happier without this.”
That quiet voice? It's your intuition. Your future self nudging you forward.
Grey area drinking often sits right between these two voices , the old and the new.
This week, try simply noticing:
Which voice gets loud… and which one feels honest?
Awareness is where everything starts.

People I'm coaching keep sharing how they don't identify as “problem drinkers,” but still feel that something is "off" with their relationship with alcohol.
That’s the space of "grey area drinking", where alcohol isn’t destroying your life, but it might be dulling it.
If you’re feeling sober curious, start here. You don’t need to make any big declarations or quit overnight.
How does alcohol *actually* make me feel — before, during, and after?
What am I really craving when I reach for a drink?
What might I gain, not lose, from taking a break away from alcohol?
Take away the judgment and bring in curosity, let me know how you go?

Just finished Bad Drunk by and WOW. 👀💬
As a former grey area drinker, this book hit home in ways I didn’t expect. Millie’s honesty around the blurred lines of “normal” drinking vs. the stuff we don’t talk about—blackouts, shame, the next-day anxiety—felt SO real.
I saw versions of myself in her words. Not someone with a rock-bottom story, but someone who knew deep down that drinking wasn’t serving them anymore.
Reading this made me wish I’d had a sober coach back then. Not to label me, but to help me unpack the why behind my drinking. To remind me I didn’t need to wait for a crisis to want more for myself.
If you’ve ever questioned your drinking—even just a little—I highly recommend this book. It’s not preachy. It’s honest. And it might just give you the nudge you didn’t know you needed. 💬🍷🚫

Happy Sunday! You never feel worse for moving, when I don't want to do it I remind myself how fortunate I am to be able to exercise. I'm so lucky to be fit and able to move and I'll never take that for granted.
Reminding myself that has also signed us up for Rainhill in a few months too!

It didn't happen overnight, I think it took the best part of a decade of being sober curious, taking breaks away from alcohol. Then in June 2021 I just knew I was done.
You hear people in the sober space say "I just decided to stop" and I think looking in it's frustrating as what you don't hear is th inner work and experimentation that took place often years leading up to that point.
It starts with curiosity and getting real about what alcohol is taking away.
If you're concerned about your relationship with alcohol, take a break, ask for help from someone you know has been there. It can start small, my doors is always open 💓
