What do girls want from being active?
At our latest Move Your Way Festival, we didn't just introduce girls to new activities, we listened.
By speaking with girls, teachers and support staff throughout the day, we learned more about what helps girls enjoy being active and what encourages them to keep coming back.
Here's some of what we heard:
β¨ Girls want opportunities to have fun and build confidence.
β¨ Trying something new can help girls discover an activity they genuinely enjoy.
β¨ More choice means more girls can find a way to be active that feels right for them.
These insights are helping shape what happens next, with schools voting for the activities they'd like to see return and new opportunities being created based on what girls told us.

π Every movement counts.
Today, we welcome the refreshed UK Chief Medical Officers' Physical Activity Guidelines, reinforcing an important message that every movement counts towards better health and wellbeing.
While the recommendation remains 150 minutes of physical activity each week, the updated guidance places greater emphasis on building strength and balance throughout life, reducing time spent sitting, and recognising that even small amounts of movement can make a real difference.
Whether it's walking to the local shops, cycling instead of driving, playing with children in the park, improving strength through simple exercises at home or joining a local activity group, there's no single way to be active.
Our CEO, Carly Jones, said:
"The updated guidance reflects something we've long believed; that helping people move more isn't about asking them to do more, it's about making it easier for movement to become part of everyday life."
At Together Active, we're proud to work alongside partners across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to help create healthier, more active communities where everyone has the opportunity to move more.

Wow, what a fantastic day we had earlier this week in the sunshine at Athletic Club! πβοΈ
We welcomed 182 girls from 8 primary schools across Tamworth to our latest Move Your Way Festival, giving them the opportunity to try a range of activities including Netball, Hockey, Kin-Ball, Cricket, Fencing, Pickleball and even Quidditch!
The day was all about building confidence, developing new skills and encouraging girls to discover ways to move that they genuinely enjoy. Schools will now vote for their favourite activities to take back into school, helping more girls stay active long after the festival has finished.
Creating positive experiences of movement at a young age can help shape confidence, habits and attitudes towards being active for years to come.
That's why Move Your Way, part of the This Girl Can movement, puts girls at the centre of the conversation, helping to create opportunities that reflect what they want from sport and physical activity.
A huge well done to all the girls who got involved and thank you to the schools, activity providers and partners who helped make the day such a success. π
