We’re so pleased to be celebrating National Boccia Day! 🤾💙

Over the last few years, we’ve been lucky enough to welcome Boccia England to a number of our events, including earlier this week as part of our latest Move Your Way festival.

Boccia is a brilliant inclusive sport, giving people of different ages, abilities and disabilities the chance to get involved.

For many pupils across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, our events are their first opportunity to give it a go and we want that first experience to lead to more.

That’s why we’re now working with Boccia England to help connect them with more local schools, creating more chances for young people to discover boccia and continue playing if they enjoy it.

A huge thank you to Boccia England for helping us introduce more young people to the sport and create more opportunities for them to get involved. 🙌

We’re looking for a new CEO to lead Together Active through an important period of renewal, growth and opportunity.

Working alongside our Board, staff and partners, you will provide strategic leadership, strengthen our impact across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, and lead Together Active into the next Sport England investment period.

At the heart of the role is turning national priorities into meaningful place-based change, while strengthening the role movement, sport and physical activity can play in tackling wider local challenges.

We’re looking for an experienced, inclusive and emotionally intelligent leader who can bring people together, lead through change and build shared purpose across organisations, sectors and communities.

We’re pleased to be supporting a free Employer Showcase with Coach Core Foundation, Lifetime Training, the Care Leaver Covenant, Staffordshire County Council and University of Staffordshire.

We’re excited to be recruiting four Community Activators to support Place-Based work across East Staffordshire. 🙌

Each role will be employed by Together Active and seconded to one of four local host organisations:

Burton Unity
Burton and District Mind
Trent & Dove
YMCA Burton

The Community Activators will spend time with local people, listening to their experiences and understanding the barriers that can make it harder to be active.

What they hear and learn will help shape local ideas and opportunities that support more people to move more and be active in ways that work for them.

We’re looking for people who are good listeners, enjoy building relationships and care about making sure local voices are heard.

You don’t need a specific qualification or professional background to apply, and experience can come from all areas of life.

🕛24 hours per week
📆18-month contract
💷£28,000 pro-rata (£21,000 actual)

❄️ A new opportunity to get active on the slopes in Tamworth!

Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) is offering subsidised adaptive snowsport lessons for disabled adults through its new Adaptive Snowsport Pathways Programme.

The programme is designed to support people who may currently be doing little or no physical activity to try something new, build confidence and enjoy being active in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Taking place locally at the SnowDome Tamworth, participants can access:

🎿 Four individual lessons for just £20 per session (normally £75)
🎿 Small group sessions to continue developing skills and enjoying the slopes with others
🎿 Support to build confidence, improve physical and mental wellbeing and connect with new people

There are just 60 spaces available across England, so early registration is encouraged.

We’ve got some exciting news to share!✨

Together Active has partnered with Speak Out Safe (SOS) to help make raising a safeguarding or welfare concern simpler and more accessible.

We’ll be using SOS ourselves, but we’ll also be making it available to leisure centres, gyms, sports clubs, community groups and activity providers across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

People can raise a concern anonymously or by name, with reporting available in 29 languages and an audio option too.
It’s another way we can support strong safeguarding locally and help make sure everyone can feel safe and supported when being active.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility!
