🍂🍁 Autumn Adventures in Nursery 🍁🍂

Our Nursery children have been exploring seasonal changes this week and discovering all the wonderful signs of autumn! 🐭🍁

There was lots of excitement as the children carefully opened some very spiky horse chestnut shells to discover shiny conkers hiding inside! 🌰✨

We also enjoyed a walk over to the high school to search for leaves that had fallen from the trees. The children noticed how the leaves are changing from green to beautiful shades of red, orange, yellow and brown. 🍃➡️🍂

It was a fantastic opportunity to explore the world around us, talk about why leaves fall from the trees and spot the changes that happen as we move into autumn.

What a wonderful morning we had at KPS as part of our joint Macmillan Coffee Morning with KSS! 💚

It was fantastic to welcome so many of our parents, carers and families into school. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a cuppa and a slice of cake, made a donation or kindly provided some of the delicious treats! 🧁☕

Our Squirrels have been busy becoming fantastic little scientists! 🐿️🔎

In Science, the children have been learning to identify and name the different parts of plants, including the roots, stem, leaves, flowers and petals. 🌸 They have also explored the different parts of trees, learning about roots, trunks, branches and leaves. 🍃

The children took their learning outdoors to explore plants and trees in their local environment, looking closely at what they could find and using their scientific vocabulary to describe their discoveries. 🌱🔎

Our young scientists have been busy investigating electricity and circuits! 💡

Today, the children became circuit detectives, investigating why some circuits weren’t working. 🔎 They carefully examined each circuit to spot problems such as loose connections, missing components or components connected incorrectly.

It was fantastic to see the children testing their ideas, problem-solving and explaining what they had discovered. 👏

🐿️🌟 A fantastic start for Squirrels Class! 🌟🐿️

Our Year 1 Squirrels have had a brilliant start to the new school year! They have been busy settling into their new classroom, getting to know one another and becoming familiar with their new daily routines. We are so proud of how well they have adapted to life in Year 1! 💛

📚 In English, the children have started exploring their new story, ‘Lost and Found’, while in Maths they have been busy developing their number skills.

🌱 In Science, Squirrels have begun learning all about plants, as well as exploring the past in History and learning about friendships and feelings in PSHE.

The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm for their learning already, and we can’t wait to see all the wonderful things they achieve this year! 👏✨

🐭👣 Exploring Our Five Senses in Nursery! 👣🐭

Our Nursery Mice have been learning all about their five senses! 🌟

Today, they went on an exciting barefoot walk around the school, using their sense of touch to explore how different surfaces felt beneath their feet.

The children did a fantastic job of describing the different textures, using words such as “bumpy”, “spiky” and “soft”. 👣💭

What a fun, hands-on way to explore our senses and develop our vocabulary! 💚

We want every child to enjoy coming to school and to know that there are adults here who know them, care about them and want them to succeed.

We were therefore delighted that Ofsted said:
“Pupils enjoy attending this welcoming and inclusive school. Each morning, they are greeted warmly by staff who know them well. This helps pupils to feel safe, valued and ready to learn.”
