Masters research projects are officially underway, kicking off with an exciting focus on microbiology and cell biology ๐ฌโจ
With a total of 6 weeks to complete their projects, weโre now a couple of weeks in and progress is already looking great as they dive into the microscopic world where discovery begins and innovation takes shape

๐งฌ๐ฌ WHAT A DAY! ๐ฌ๐งฌ
A massive THANK YOU ๐ to the amazing Medical Science students and staff from King Edward VI College, Nuneaton, for joining us for todayโs Biomedical Science outreach session! ๐๐จโ๐ฌ
The students stepped into the shoes of Biomedical Scientists and Clinical Scientists, tackling a patient case scenario from the very start ๐ญ.
They created their own EUCAST disk diffusion plates ๐งซ and tested antibiotic discs to work out which treatment would be most effective for their patient and avoid antibiotic resistance!๐ฆ
Next up was cell counting using a blood cancer cell line ๐ฌ๐ฉธ, followed by blood grouping their patientโs sample to determine which donor blood groups would be safe for transfusion โค๏ธ๐ฉธ
And the highlight for many... finding out their blood type! ๐๐
ฐ๏ธ๐
ฑ๏ธ๐
พ๏ธ Students also took home personalised blood group keyrings ๐ showing both their blood type and just how rare it is in the general population ๐๐
It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork, curiosity and future scientific talent all in one room ๐ก๐๐งโ๐ฌ. Thank you for bringing such great energy and engagement throughout the day!
We loved having you with us and canโt wait to see where your future careers in science and healthcare take you! ๐๐
Comment below if you see yourself in a photo!

๐ Celebrating 10 Years of Biomedical Science Day!๐
To mark this special milestone, weโve created a collage featuring past and present students, academics, and colleagues from across the years who have helped shape and inspire our biomedical science course and community and make us all forever ๐ซถ
From laboratory discoveries and research achievements to teaching, learning, and collaboration, Biomedical Science Day is an opportunity to celebrate the people behind the science and the impact they make every day ๐ช๐ฌ
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey over the past decade! Hereโs to celebrating our achievements and growth, our staff and students, and friendships made along the way ๐ค while we continuously inspire the next generation of biomedical scientists! ๐งฌ๐ฅผ

Physiology session or full body MOT? ๐ฉบ๐ซ
Last week our First Year Healthcare Science Apprenticeship students got involved in a range of practical tasks including peak flow measurements ๐จ, blood pressure checks ๐ฉธ, ECG heart rate testing ๐ and 6-minute walking tests to see how far they could walk with commands and encouragement along the way ๐ถโโ๏ธ
A brilliant practical session combining clinical skills, teamwork, and a little healthy competition too ๐๐ช
