⭐️ Celebration Assembly ⭐️

Celebrating the final Handwriting award, Superstar Reader and Merit award winners of this Half Term. Amazing achievements everyone, keep up the hard work! 🤩

🏉 On Friday, Great Wood took part in the CADSSA Y4/5 tag rugby tournament, hosted by our friends St Werburghs and have successfully defended the title they won last year 🏆🥳. The players were fantastic and went through all the emotions to achieve this outstanding achievement.

Thank you to all the parents and supporters, to our amazing coaches: Mark Hatcher and Jacob, who managed and supported the players and to our wonderful children who were praised for their fair play and team work.

They were all awesome, all playing a part in this success and can rightly celebrate being champions. 🏆🎉🏉

🥳 Our amazing year six children have been working extremely hard for their SATS this week. 💫

It has been a long week, but they have been able to enjoy a cooked breakfast each morning before their tests, with choices of sausages, bacon, hash browns, egg, cheesy oatcakes, toast, crumpets, pain au chocolat, hot drinks and juice. 🍳🥓☕️

When they finished the last paper, we surprised them with goodie bags and McFlurries! They thoroughly enjoyed these!🍦

On Friday they had a celebration breakfast with Ms York’s famous pancakes and homemade waffles, followed by doughnuts at break-time! 🥞🧇🍩

🎉 Well done year six, we are really proud of you all. 🎉

🎉 Happy Birthday Sir David Attenborough 🎉

On Friday 8th May, Great Wood celebrated Sir David Attenborough and his amazing work as he marked his 100th Birthday. 🥳

Children and staff dressed in costumes inspired by Sir David Attenborough and enjoyed a day of activities that reflected the significance of his life and work, including learning about wildlife, conservation, exploration and caring for our planet. 🌍

Making the day more memorable and fun, children also enjoyed a Teddy Bears picnic lunch 🧸 then sang a selection of songs to Parents and Grandparents, including a whole-school rendition of “Happy Birthday”.

Thank you to all our amazing Great Wood families for helping us celebrate and for the fantastic array of outfits! 🐅🦓🦧🦚

Well done to the Cross Country team who took part in the recent CADSSA cross country league at Oakamoor. In total, nine schools took part. 🏃

🥈The girls came 2nd overall! Huge congratulations to Genevieve who took the winning spot for her race. 🥇

🥈The boys also came 2nd, well done to Lucas for taking 3rd place. 🥉

🥈Overall, Great Wood took 2nd place in the league. Amazing achievements from the whole team, it is a long way to run. 👏

Well done to all the parents for helping with transport and supporting.
