🏕️ What a weekend, what a way to end the academic year, with our fabulous PTFA Camp Out! Each year this event gets bigger and better. 2026 gave us incredible weather and families came together to enjoy a weekend of camping, games, food and socialising. The children have absolutely loved it, so many happy (but tired) faces yesterday.

We once again would like to send a huge “thank you” to Tom, for organising the fire pit and lighting, along with lots of help and donations. 🪵

Huge thank you to all our Great Wood families for once again supporting this unique event. We couldn’t do it without you. 💙

Shall we do it all again next year?! 🏕️

🎉 Class of 2026 🎉

Our amazing year six have enjoyed their final week at Great Wood, leavers lunch, a leavers service, a disco and camp out! They can be seen sporting their leavers hoodies and looking great in them. We will miss our class of ‘26 and wish them all the very best for the future. 🎓

🎊 Our amazing year six children enjoyed a fantastic leavers outing, to Inflato. They thoroughly enjoyed having the whole venue to themselves, bouncing around and then enjoyed a McDonald’s afterwards.

🤩 Great Wood’s fantastic PTFA funded the whole event, thank you so much!

Last week, our Reception, Year 1, 2 & 3 children visited Gladstone Pottery Museum. Children experienced a full tour of the museum and each took part in a craft workshop, clay flower making or clay vessel hand building - they certainly created some masterpieces!
Thank you to all the Gladstone Pottery Museum staff for making the day so engaging and exciting, all our children thoroughly enjoyed their visit.

🎨 On Friday, pupils in year 4/5 and 6 visited the National Memorial Arboretum to see the artwork that had been completed by year 6 pupils on a previous visit.

🥁We were able to play on drums as part of a ‘gathering’ to come together to appreciate each other as human beings. The children then had lunch in the Oak Room, where the King and Queen are hosted. They all enjoyed the buffet lunch that was provided, especially the giant chocolate cookies.
Year 6 pupils led the poetry performance as part of the celebrations. We then had a short tour of the Arboretum before making our way home.

Thank you to the National Memorial Arboretum for hosting and accommodating us so fantastically. Thank you to Emma who coordinated the event and led the project, without her involvement, this would have not happened. Thank you to the staff who supported the pupils across the day.
The main praise goes to our amazing children who were exemplary on their tour of the Arboretum.

The art work is on display all summer, so please visit, it is a spectacular setting.
