Year 10 produced an excellent performance against St Thomas More, narrowly losing 3-2 in a closely contested match. The team showed great determination, teamwork and resilience, matching their opponents throughout the game and creating several good scoring opportunities.

The students represented the school exceptionally well, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, respect and commitment both on and off the pitch. Their attitude and effort never dropped, even when facing periods of pressure, and they continued to work hard for one another until the final whistle.

The game remained competitive throughout, with both teams enjoying spells of possession and creating chances. Year 10 can be proud of the quality they showed and the positive way they responded to setbacks during the match. Although the result did not go in their favour, the performance was full of positives and highlighted the progress the team is making. The players should be commended for their excellent conduct and the pride they showed in representing the school.

🏐 Year 9 Netball City Tournament 🏐

Last week, one of our netball squads competed in the Year 9 City Tournament at Fenton Manor. It was a fantastic experience and a great challenge for the four Year 8 players in the team, who were competing against older students throughout the competition.

The standard of opposition was tough, but the girls rose to the challenge brilliantly, demonstrating excellent skill, teamwork and resilience. Their hard work paid off, with them losing only one of their five matches.

The team represented the school superbly and should be incredibly proud of their achievements and the determination they showed throughout the tournament.

Next week, it will be the turn of our Year 10 team to take to the courts in the latest round of City Tournament fixtures. We wish them the very best of luck and look forward to posting how they get on!

👏 Well done, girls, and good luck Year 10!

The Year 11 football team were beaten 4-0 by Trentham, but the scoreline did not reflect their effort and determination throughout the match. The team worked hard from start to finish, competing well against a strong opposition and never giving up despite the challenges they faced.

There were some positive passages of play, with the players showing good teamwork and commitment on and off the ball. Defensively, the team battled well and continued to support one another throughout the game. Their attitude and resilience were particularly impressive, as they kept working hard until the final whistle.

Although the result was disappointing, the performance showed plenty of character and determination. The team can take a lot of positives from the match and should be proud of the way they represented the school.

🏆 City Rounders Champions! 🏆

After months of waiting, our Year 8 girls (now Year 9) finally had the opportunity to compete in the City Rounders Final last week, following the original fixture being postponed due to the extreme heat during the summer term.

With much kinder weather at St Margaret Ward, the girls produced a performance to remember. After a closely contested first innings, the scores were locked at 4½ - 4½, meaning a second and deciding innings was required.

The tension continued to build as the match reached a dramatic climax. Batting second, our girls were chasing down their opponents' lead and fought brilliantly to pull the score back level with just two batters remaining. Despite their best efforts, the winning run would not come, and the match finished level once again after two innings.

The title was therefore decided on a countback of players out, and thanks to some outstanding fielding throughout the game, along with excellent stumping at second base from Teighan, our team had done enough to secure victory. We finished with just 3 players out, compared to our opponents' 9, earning us the title of City Rounders Champions!

An incredible achievement and a wonderful example of teamwork, determination and resilience. Congratulations to every player involved. You should all be immensely proud of yourselves! 🎉👏

🏃‍♀️ Cross Country Fixture! 🏃‍♀️

On Wednesday 16th September, girls from all year groups competed in a fantastic cross-country fixture hosted by Trentham Academy. 🌟

There was a fantastic effort all round, with some students competing in their very first fixture representing Thistley Hough Academy — what a great way to get started! 💪

We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part, showed resilience and represented the academy so brilliantly. 👏

And, of course, the highlight for some had to be the well-deserved chocolate fix at the end! 🍫😂
