💧🌿 SEASON OF CREATION | LIVING WATER 🌿💧

Last Thursday, some of our wonderful Fishers from the Chaplaincy Team walked to Holy Trinity to take part in a beautiful Season of Creation Service. 🙏✨

We were joined by learners from St Mary's Catholic Primary School Newcastle Under Lyme and members of the Parish as we gathered in prayer and reflection, thinking about our role as stewards of creation and exploring this year’s theme: Living Water. 💦🌎

Our learners responded creatively to the theme, producing beautiful artwork and handwritten reflections on paper water drops, sharing their thoughts on the small ways we can all help to protect the waters on our planet. 🎨💧🌱

It was wonderful to see our learners take such an active role in the service. They read, sang and participated beautifully, helping to create a truly thoughtful and prayerful celebration. 🎶🙏

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the service so special, and to our wonderful learners for representing the Fishers so brilliantly. 💙

🌍💧 Together, let us care for our common home. 🌿🙏

This afternoon, Year 6 had a fantastic trip to Newcastle Library! The children were excited to explore the shelves and had the chance to share some of their favourite books with Terry, the librarian. From magical adventures to thrilling mysteries, there was plenty of book talk and enthusiasm all around!
Terry also shared some of the exciting events coming up at the library – lots to look forward to for our keen readers! He then treated the class to a reading of an extract from A World Full of Spooky Stories: Esteban and the Ghost – a perfect way to end a magical afternoon. To finish off the visit, the children were able to browse the plethora of books that the library has to offer and choose a book to bring home. 📖
Thank you to Terry and the team at Newcastle Library for making us feel so welcome! 💙

✍️✨ Young Writers ✨✍️

We are so proud of Romy and Charlie in Year 4 who have joined the Spark Young Writers group at Newcastle-under-Lyme Library! 📚🌟

The group meets on Saturdays throughout the year so it is wonderful to see them showing such commitment to developing their writing beyond the classroom. Through workshops led by professional writers, they’ll have the chance to build their creativity, confidence and writing skills. 📝💭

What fantastic dedication! Well done, Romy and Charlie! 👏✨

🎭📚✨ National Poetry Day 2026 ✨📚🎭

This morning, we celebrated National Poetry Day with a fantastic whole-school assembly, and what a performance it was! 🌟

Each year group took to the stage to perform a poem they had been rehearsing during their Readers’ Theatre sessions. From wonderful expression and clear voices to brilliant actions and confident performances, our children absolutely brought the words to life! 🎤👏 Their fantastic oracy skills were on full display and we were so proud of every single performer. ❤️

Our poetry line-up was:

❤️✨ Year 1 – All of Me
🦉🐱 Year 2 – The Owl and the Pussycat
🌿🐞 Year 3 – Nature Trail
🐉✨ Year 4 – The Tale of Custard the Dragon
🎉🗣️ Year 5 – The Word Party
⚠️📜 Year 6 – A Cautionary Verse

A huge well done to all of our poetry superstars! 🌟 What a brilliant way to celebrate the joy of poetry, performance and spoken language across St Mary’s. 🎬🎭📖

Today in Maths, Year 3 have been investigating, using equipment and stem sentences to help, the patterns when we add multiples of 10. We discovered that the 100s and 1s did not change in the calculations we tackled today. However, next week, we will be moving on to numbers where adding 10s can make the 100s larger! Well done Year 3, keep up the good work!

Thank you to the staff and learners at St John Fisher who led a beautiful prayer service at Holy Trinity reflecting on looking after God’s creation. The children took a tear drop with them to reflect on what their wishes for creation were. They also participated by reading the bidding prayers.
