On Wednesday, the children had a truly memorable day filled with
exciting opportunities to celebrate reading. We were delighted to
welcome John Dougherty - author, poet, songwriter who inspired and entertained the children during a special author visit. As part of the Roots to Reading initiative, our school was generously gifted 200 books by the Bookmark charity, helping to further foster a love of reading across the school.

The day was made even more special with a visit from BBC Midlands Today , and our school featured on the evening news. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj9gnr2z9ngo

We were also honoured to welcome the Lady Mayoress and her consort, who joined us in celebrating this wonderful occasion. It was a fantastic day that the children will remember for a long time.

Year 3 have been practicing their sewing skills this week after a busy morning learning all about textiles, fabrics and a famous artist William Morris. Year 3 showed fantastic dedication and joy as they worked so hard to design and create their own reading diary folder! They all look fantastic! A big thank you to our parents helpers who gave their time to support our children!

Today, Year 5 have been learning about the trench systems that were used in WWI by the soldiers on the frontline. The children came together like the soldiers and built their trenches from modelling clay and wire. - Fantastic team work displayed by everyone involved and an enjoyable experience with great learning taking place.

Well done, Year 5.

Yesterday morning our Year 5 children met with Baroness Garden (Lib Dem), from the House of Lords to find out a little bit more about politics. The children put Baroness Garden to the sword with their questions, in what was an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Thank you to all of our children who got involved and showed our school values of Dedication, Courage and Joy whilst being apart of the event.

Well done!

Today Class 5/6 history lesson, they built World War One trenches using clay, wire, lolly sticks and paint. Pupils learned that trenches protected soldiers from enemy bullets and explosions, provided shelter, helped defend positions and allowed supplies to be stored safely. However, life in the trenches was very difficult because they were often cold, wet, muddy, overcrowded and filled with rats and lice, making conditions uncomfortable and dangerous for the soldiers.
