βοΈπ¦ Summer Holiday Fun! π¦βοΈ
Believe it or not the big summer holiday is almost here!! π³ So I thought I would let you know about the different musical activities that will be on offer to help keep your child entertained!
π΅ Regular music lessons. Of course, if your child wants to continue with lessons during the summer this is absolutely fine! As usual simply choose from the selection available and pick and mix around your own school holiday plans!
πΆ New! Composer Masterclass!
Would your child like to create their very own piece of music? The Composer Masterclass will show them how to write their ideas on music paper ready to perform! Each child will get to take their composition and a certificate home.
π΅ Instrument Discovery Course!
This is a great way for a child to have a go at playing a different instrument with no extra commitment! Choose from Clarinet, Saxophone, Recorder, Piano, Electronic Keyboard and Percussion Fun! Everyone will get a certificate to take home.
πΆ Electronic Dance Music Workshop!
Some children had such a great time during February half term with this! Children get the chance to create their own instrumental dance music track using the multi track recording function on my electric piano. Copies of their creations will be featured here on this page! Parents will also receive this via WhatsApp and children get a certificate to take home. Of course any children who have already enjoyed this workshop would be very welcome to take part in another one!
I hope this looks exciting for you all! Students on lesson packages B and C will receive the dates for the summer holidays in the next couple of weeks!
Package A students (Term time only) will hopefully have a lovely summer break! If however you have now changed your mind and want access to these summer activities please do let me know! π

π΅πΆ Congratulations to Antonio for his Musician Achievement Award: Completing John Thompson's Easiest Piano Course Book 1!
I can't believe how quickly Antonio completed this book! It is probably due to the fact that he concentrates so hard in class and is so enthusiastic about learning new things!
Well done Antonio, you should be really proud of yourself! π€©πΆπ΅

π΅πΆ Congratulations to Nishidha for her Musician Achievement Award: Great Work Playing In Different Hand Positions!
Nishidha has been working so hard just lately, not only learning how to read music with less pencil letters but also how to play in different hand positions on the piano!
She found it very challenging at first but I can tell Nishidha has been trying really hard to practice it in at home and she's quickly getting the hang of it!
Well done Nishi you are a superstar! It is lovely to see you play more confidently too! π€© πΆπ΅

ππ¦ΈββοΈ Heatwave Heros! π¦ΈββοΈπ
Thank you so much to our superhero music mums: Prathima Puranik, Ellie Bram, Laura Shawcross, not forgetting Alivia's nan, who all braved their baking hot cars to bring their children to half term music lessons!
Also a shout out to my wonderful dedicated adult learners: Debbie, Pauline and Geoff who all happily came for music lessons in the heat too!
Really appreciate you all! π₯΅
I'm glad everyone had a wonderful time despite the sweltering heat! πΆπ΅

πΌπ Music Books! ππΌ
It has been really lovely to see all of my younger students remembering to bring big smiles and tonnes of enthusiasm to music lessons! However a few of them are forgetting to bring their music booksπ€ͺ
If it is possible please do give the children a bit of a nudge to remember them as it is actually a very useful part of music lessons! I know I have lots of music here in the studio but these are some reasons why it is better to use their own copies:
πΆ Every student has lessons tailored especially for them, which includes pencil markings to aid them with finger work etc. If I'm putting markings on my copies here they won't have them on their books at home so they will find practicing a lot harder!
πΆ Many young students are currently in the process of being weaned off using pencil letters over notes. Each child will be at a different stage of this so my own copies often have letters rubbed out or rewritten. There are now indentations where letters have been rubbed out which enables children to look at these rather than the notes themselves!
πΆ I always mark in student books the work set for practice. Often children are forgetting what we did in class and we end up backtracking as it is also hard for me to remember exactly which child is on which piece in the book! (I often have several children in different places on the same music scheme!)
So kids, if you remember your books you will have much better quality lessons, your practice at home will be easier and you will be able to astound your friends and family with what you can play! π

πΆπ΅ Congratulations to Thea for her Musician Achievement Award: Playing A Melody With Two Notes In The Same Hand!
Thea has been doing some amazing work learning Disney music this year! During 'Whistle While You Work' we came across a lovely moment in the melody where Thea had to play 2 note chords using only her right hand.
This is something that Thea hadn't seen before but she managed it with enthusiasm, using lovely finger work!
Well done Thea, your piano playing is amazing! π€©π΅πΆ

πΆπ΅ Congratulations to Myla for her Musician Achievement Award: Wonderful Sight Reading!
Myla has been working so hard preparing for Grade 1 this year and one of the extra components involved with taking a face to face grade is sight reading.
A lot of students, both adults and children, tend to think of these as something really hard and unpleasant but Myla has relaxed into it all and really enjoys practicing them. She even told me today that she loves sight reading and it's her favourite!
What a fabulous attitude Myla, I'm so proud of you! π€© π΅πΆ
