Hello everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹

I hope youโ€™ve all had a lovely summer โ˜€๏ธ and are raring to go for the new term! ๐Ÿ“š

As some of you know, Iโ€™ve been running my tutoring business alongside my part-time teaching job (as well as juggling my one year old and all the other things that the pandemic has brought like home school learning) which is the main reason why my Facebook content has been lacking!

For this academic year, Iโ€™m going back into school where I will be working full time ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ ๐ŸŽ so, for now, the tutoring business will be taking a back seat.

I want to thank everyone who has shown and given me support since I set up. I wouldnโ€™t have been able to do it without you. ๐Ÿ’œ Thank you to my students too. Iโ€™ve thoroughly enjoyed teaching you and getting to know you as the wonderful individuals you are! Keep up the fantastic work! ๐ŸŒŸ

Stride to Success Tuition will be back soon! โœจ

๐Ÿ“š Itโ€™s World Book Day! ๐Ÿ“š

The aim of World Book Day is to change lives through a love of books and shared reading.

I hope you can find time today to snuggle up with your children, share a lovely book or two and make some lasting memories.

How can we prepare our children so that they are ready to return to school?

Some children may be chomping at the bit to go back and others will be reluctant to return (like my son).

Either way, it is important to prepare our children for another big change in their lives.

Here are some tips for you to try:

๐ŸŸ  Prepare your child for what to expect. Get the bags ready and uniform out now.

๐Ÿ”ตTry to get back into a routine even before school starts. Try to get them to go to sleep and get up at the same time they would on a school day.

๐ŸŸข Ensure your child is getting plenty of sleep, particularly once they return to school as they will be physically and cognitively tired.

๐ŸŸฃ Talk with your child about their feelings and emotions about going back to school. Be understanding and talk through ways to deal with these feelings.

๐ŸŸก Provide encouragement and reassurance before school starts, at the school gates and beyond.

4 more days of home schooling left! ๐ŸŽ‰ The countdown is on!

Here are some thoughts on children returning to school. What do you make of it? I couldnโ€™t agree more! ๐Ÿ’›

Some thoughts on our return to school...

Children canโ€™t catch up to someone elseโ€™s history. They have lived through something unique to their own particular childhood.

Our 3 year olds have lived a third of their lives in lockdown.

Our 4 year olds have lived a quarter of their lives in lockdown.

For most of these children this has meant a narrowing of their world and social contacts.

No visits to soft plays, farms and swimming pools.

No family holidays, play dates or days spent with grandparents.

Our children have their own history, individual to them.

They need time to reconnect with extended family, friends and adults outside their immediate bubble.

They need time to play and experience new things.

Their journey through childhood may be different to ours but that doesnโ€™t mean they need to โ€˜catch upโ€™.

As our children return to school we need to prioritise time for play and time to build relationships.

With these things at the heart of our practice our children will show us what they need to navigate their own unique part in history ๐Ÿ’•
