This week, our Business Team came together to focus on one of the most important foundations of our Trust's future – our Finance Strategy.

It was a fantastic opportunity to share ideas, challenge our thinking, and align around a clear vision for ensuring long-term financial sustainability across our schools.

Our discussions centred around the STRIVE framework, which brings together the six key pillars of our Finance Strategy – Sustainable Finance, Thriving People, Reporting & Insight, Integrated Systems & Digital, Value, Efficiency & Compliance, and Enhanced Income – all designed to ensure we make the very best use of our resources so that every child can thrive.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed with enthusiasm and openness. Collaboration like this is what will help us continue building a financially resilient Trust that supports our vision:

Investing in the very best start for every child

Yesterday, EYFS Leaders and Headteachers from across Staffordshire University Academies Trust came together for our second EYFS Conference of the year, continuing our shared commitment to providing the highest quality early education for every child.

The day focused on two of the most powerful drivers of children's success:

Speech, Language and Communication
High Quality Interactions

These are the foundations upon which confidence, curiosity, independence and lifelong learning are built.

A huge thank you to our Trust EYFS Lead, Sue Machin, whose expertise and leadership continue to strengthen Early Years practice across our Trust. We are also incredibly grateful to our EYFS Hub Leaders—Jen Shufflebotham, Tammi Williams and Nicola Turner—who shared excellent practice, facilitated workshops and demonstrated the strength of collaboration across our schools.

The conference explored current research, practical classroom approaches and collaborative problem-solving, ensuring that leaders left with strategies they can implement immediately to further enhance children's learning and development.

As part of the day, our CEO and our Director of Learning and School Improvement shared how our Trust Education Strategy—Every Child Known. Every Child Learning. Every Child Flourishing —aligns with the renewed Ofsted framework and reinforces our belief that Early Years is not simply preparation for school, but the foundation for everything that follows.

Days like these demonstrate the power of collaboration. By learning together, sharing expertise and continually reflecting on practice, we ensure that every child across our Trust receives the very best possible start in life.

Our Writing Leads came together for a valuable professional learning opportunity last week. Following the initial CPD delivered by our Trust EYFS Lead, Sue Machin, practitioners visited St. Edward's Academy, Cheddleton, to observe the writing model that Sue has developed in collaboration with EYFS practitioners at STEAC.

The visit provided an opportunity to see the model in practice and explore how it supports children's development as writers through purposeful and engaging experiences. Practitioners observed children orally composing sentences before recording dictated sentences, strengthening both composition and transcription skills. This approach closely reflects the recommendations within the DfE's Writing Framework, particularly The Importance of the Reception Year.

A huge thank you to Sue Machin and the EYFS team at St. Edward's Academy for sharing their expertise and showcasing the impact of this collaborative approach to early writing development. We look forward to seeing how these insights continue to strengthen practice across our Trust.

Moorgate Primary Academy were delighted to welcome Tamworth’s MP, Sarah Edwards, for a special visit this week.

Organised by proactive parent LAC member, Zoe Schnepp, the visit gave pupils the opportunity to share their recent experiences at Birmingham University and their ongoing partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Over the past three years, Moorgate has placed a strong emphasis on enriching its science curriculum — including regular visits to university labs and participation in an 18-month plastics project.

During her visit, Sarah also met with members of the school council to discuss women’s rights and how voting for women has evolved over the last century, sparking thoughtful and inspiring conversations.

We are incredibly proud of the pupils at Moorgate Primary Academy, who represented their school with confidence and enthusiasm throughout the visit.

A fantastic event last night as children from Moorgate Primary Academy and Charnwood Primary Academy came together for a cross country challenge.

Pupils from both schools were exceptional throughout, demonstrating resilience, determination and a positive attitude.
This is just the beginning of many opportunities for our children to step beyond their comfort zones, showcasing their sporting talent and excellent sportsmanship.
