From a private school in Rutland to a 400-mile round trip to Exeter, delivering sessions for students and staff.

Tomorrow is a well-earned admin day, before heading to a college in Leeds on Friday.

It’s been another busy week, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who invites me into their school, college, residential setting, or conference/event to share my experience and expertise.

Every invitation is an opportunity to make a difference, challenge toxic narratives and help build resilience...and I never take that for granted.

"You are as bald as my dads arse"

A comment from a student in a specialist provision I'm working in today. Some speakers might not speak in a school like this one. Most have been expelled from other schools. Many have experienced high levels of trauma, living in care.

It has, however, been ace. If I'd said "No" to this booking it would have been a missed opportunity. These kids need a role model, a positive one. One that challenges 'their normal.'

The two lads they have the most concern with didn't take their eyes off me the entire session. They asked questions, and engaged when I asked for group ideas.

One session left. Bring it on!

After trying a cookie from Gloucester services today. I can firmly say I need these in my life, everyday.

A quick Friday introduction, and WHAT WE OFFER for those that are perhaps new to my page.

I believe that it is my calling to use my background working in counter terrorism, to give young people, and education providers, the skills that they need to fight extremist narratives. That is why we run sessions on understanding the radicalisation process, VAWG, misogyny, ideologies, critical thinking, algorithms, echo chambers and all things relating to the prevent duty.

I believe firmly, however, that if we are going to prevent young people from falling prey to those that with to exploit them, for their own extremist narratives. We need to look at the bigger picture. Which is why on top of the above. I also have a small number of trainers that are specialists in their own areas. This allows us to offer the below training:

A fab day working with in .

Foster carers are always so lovely to work with. Great discussions came from discussing genuine case studies and the feedback was great.

Here is the problem though...

If they, as foster carers, have a concern. They share the concern with the child's social worker for further advice.

Refer to , don't refer? My experience tells me social workers don't actually know. Most have completed an online 'tick box' course. They guess the answers to the questions at the end, get a certificate but learn nothing.

How are they actually meant to advise without proper training themselves? AND THE RESULT..

Here is the shocker...

In the last years period there were 8079 prevent referrals that needn't have been made. Those referrals causing blockage and delays in getting help to the people that genuinely need it the most.

Today, I found my emotional limit.

I’ve spent a lot of this week talking to young people about radicalisation, hate, extremism and some of the darkest parts of human behaviour.

Usually, I can deliver those sessions, have the difficult conversations and move on to the next one.

But today, it got to me. I have delivered 19 of these sessions over the last few days. It's a lot.

Here is the thing though..

Showing vulnerability isn’t weakness. It’s part of being human.

Sometimes the things we talk about, the stories we hear and the reality of what people are capable of can affect us more than we expect.

We shouldn’t be afraid to acknowledge that.

Because being resilient doesn’t mean never being affected.

Sometimes, resilience is recognising that something has affected you, taking a breath, and allowing yourself to feel it.

Today reminded me of that.

It's been an incredibly busy, and rewarding week.
A full day speaking to students at Rochdale Sixth Form College. Then a day working with all 5 year groups at Aldridge School.

Two full days speaking at a school n Hull and a long drive back home tonight (Arriving home to a cross 9 year old having been away for two nights).

Tomorrow I'm back at Rochdale Sixth Form to work with their year 13 students. My voice is feeling it!

After an amazing year so far I'm looking at 2027 and thinking "let's go bigger"

I want to personally speak to more students, at more schools. Plus, my associate network is now offering mental health and resilience sessions.

Young people are growing up with unprecedented access to information, influencers, online communities and algorithms that can expose them to increasingly extreme and divisive ideas.

We need to teach young people how to spot manipulation, question what they see, challenge harmful narratives and know where to turn for help.

Prevent isn’t about labelling young people. It’s about early intervention, safeguarding and giving them the tools to make safer choices.
