Our Year 8 pupils enjoyed a fantastic hands-on lesson today exploring how computers store, process and communicate information.
π»
Students investigated a range of real-world data representation methods, including QR codes, barcodes, Braille, sign language and semaphore signals. They then put their learning into practice by using semaphore flags to communicate messages across the classroom, demonstrating how information can be transferred without speech or digital devices.

This engaging activity helped pupils develop important problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills, while also raising awareness of accessibility and the ways technology supports people in everyday life.
π»
By exploring different forms of data representation, students are building a strong foundation for understanding how computers handle information and how humans and machines communicate in our increasingly digital world.
π
Well done, Year 8, for your enthusiasm and excellent participation!
