Pupils from across the Frank Field Education Trust came together to celebrate their achievements at the annual Gold Award Ceremony, held at the beautiful Ness Botanic Gardens on the Wirral on Wednesday 17th June 2026.

The event recognised students who have successfully completed the Frank Field Education Trust Gold Award Programme, which encourages young people to demonstrate dedication, resilience, leadership and personal development while embodying the Trust’s core values.

On Wednesday, eight of our Sports Leaders proudly represented the school at Northwood Stadium as part of the 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬. The event brought together nine Hanley schools, creating a fantastic atmosphere of competition and collaboration. ✨

This opportunity allowed our Sports Leaders to take on 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬, supporting the organisation and delivery of a large-scale athletics event. Throughout the day, they assisted with a range of track and field activities, helping events run smoothly and efficiently. 💪

Our students demonstrated 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, alongside a 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 approach. They acted as 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 for younger participants and gained valuable experience in officiating and event management. 🌟

Their contribution played a key role in the success of the day, and they represented the school with 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦. 🤝

Well done to all eight Sports Leaders for their hard work and commitment - a fantastic achievement! 👏

Last Friday we were thrilled to launch our first ever Birches Book Sale in the Street. ✨ 📚

Organised and overseen by our marvellous Library Ambassadors, students and staff were able to snap up second-hand books and groovy stationery sets at bargain prices. And the great news is that the sale will now be taking place every Friday up until the end of term, so it's not too late to grab some summer reading ready for the 6-week break. ☀ 📚

All proceeds will be going to the Readathon charity, which provides books and storytellers for children's hospitals up and down the country. ✨ 📚

On Friday, we hosted our final 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒐𝒐𝒏 𝑻𝒆𝒂 of the year – and what a treat it was! 🎉

The top 10 pupils from across each year group, each achieving the highest number of positive points, were invited to join us for a well-deserved celebration. They enjoyed a delicious spread of breakfast bites, sandwiches, cakes, and of course, classic scones with cream and jam. 🍰🥪☕

A huge well done to all who were invited – your hard work, dedication and positivity have truly shone this year. We’re so proud of you! 👏🌟
