Year 5 took us on a journey to the 16th century, where having black teeth was a sign of wealth, the king married six times, and nobody seemed particularly concerned about modern ideas like toothpaste or health and safety!

It was a jungle out there this lunchtime with a special David Attenborough menu to celebrate his 100th birthday. We had bugs in jelly, 'hedgehog cakes', savannah burgers, mangrove salad, all washed down with a refreshing 'pond water' apple juice drink. Thank you so much to the dinner time staff for putting on such a wild spread!

Year three have celebrated David Attenborough Day by getting their feathers in a twist! They have researched and spotted birds in the local environment and made a huge 'birdy birthday cake' to put out for the birds so they can celebrate too!

For English, Year 1 wrote about David Attenborough’s life using time adverbials to order pictures and write sentences. For maths we helped do some attenborough additions counting how many animals there were altogether across 2 groups.
This afternoon we searched for animals like David does but in a jungle of words instead of trees. Finally, we used our collage skills to design a new wild species of exotic birds, we talked about some of the adjectives that Attenborough might use to describe our creations.
We also cared for our wildlife friends all day!

It’s David Attenborough Day and Y2 have enjoyed a wild day with their animal friends, focusing on the rainforest and completing research about the animals and their habitats. This has tied in brilliantly with our Science work looking at microhabitats around school. They also spent time learning about the man himself and why he is known as a National Treasure.

Our eco team have been learning about bushcraft this week and have learned how to build and light a fire safely. Of course, no outdoor fire opportunity would be complete without some delicious smores! Full tummies all round and sticky fingers!

Year 6 have enjoyed some well-deserved down time following a busy week completing SATs. They enjoyed a post-SATs party with some very sparkly hats, oodles of ice cream and cakes. All finished off with their favourite tunes! Well done this week year 6, you have done yourselves proud! Thank you to the amazing kitchen staff for putting on a lovely spread for them!
