We would like to reassure all of our families that Williamson Brothers Family Funeral Directors are committed to offering our services with the upmost care and respect.
Many of you will have seen the shocking news concerning former Hull funeral director Robert Bush and the distressing circumstances surrounding that case. Our thoughts remain with all of the families affected by these awful events - the hurt caused is truly beyond belief.
While recent headlines may have raised questions about our profession, they certainly do not reflect the values, integrity and respect demonstrated by the vast majority of funeral directors across the country.
As an independent funeral director of almost 100 years, Williamson Brothers have been serving local families with care, dignity, and compassion for generations. We understand that trust is placed in us during some of life's most difficult moments and take great pride in fulfilling this role to the highest standard.
We want to reassure our families that we are proud members of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and adhere to its strict Code of Practice and professional standards. NAFD members are required to meet rigorous standards covering the care of the deceased, client service, transparency, training, facilities, record keeping, and ethical business conduct. As part of our membership, our practices are subject to inspection and ongoing monitoring to ensure these standards are maintained, providing families with confidence that their loved ones are cared for with dignity, respect and professionalism at every stage. Whilst membership is voluntary, it reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards and adhering to best practice. Families can be reassured that Williamson Brothers successfully passed our latest NAFD inspection in March 2026.
We have always believed that the highest standards of care, accountability and transparency are essential in our profession. Each member of our team is committed to ensuring that you and your loved ones are treated with the same care and respect that we would expect for our own families - our commitment to these principles remains at the heart of what we do.
If you have any questions about the services Williamson Brothers provide, or the care and standards we work to, please don't hesitate to speak with a member of our team. You can rest assured that we will look after your loved one with the dignity, respect and dedication that every one deserves.

Choosing a simpler farewell shouldnโt mean missing out on clarity, support, or proper guidance.
Following the recent news about the ban on certain national direct cremation television advertsโwhich the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled were misleadingly implying that an attended service was includedโit is more important than ever to understand exactly what you are booking.
An unattended or direct cremation separates the cremation itself from a commemorative service, but it shouldn't leave you feeling isolated or confused about the process.

๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ: We lay out exactly what is included, what to expect, and ensure there are no hidden assumptions or surprises during an already difficult time.
๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐: Even with an unattended option, a local funeral director provides proper, respectful care for your loved one right here in the community, rather than transporting them to a mass regional facility.
