🎶✨ Meet the Musician with the Hallé Orchestra ✨🎶
Last week, our Year 5 children enjoyed a fantastic Meet the Musician workshop as part of their Arts Award journey.
We were delighted to welcome Abbie from the Hallé Orchestra, who shared her passion for music and introduced the children to her instrument - the French horn.
Abbie gave a fascinating insight into what it is like to perform in a professional orchestra, sharing her experiences and inspiring the children with stories from her musical career.
The workshop was packed with fun and learning, with the children taking part in lively rhythm activities and exploring how musicians work together to create amazing performances.
A huge thank you to Abbie for such a memorable and inspiring visit. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned so much about the world of music!

📢 Important Summer Fair Update 📢
Unfortunately, due to the forecast temperature of 35°C, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Summer Fair.
The safety and wellbeing of our staff, parents, children, and volunteers is our priority, and we do not feel it is safe to hold the event with an amber weather warning in place.
We know many of you were looking forward to the fair, and we are very disappointed to have to make this decision. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
🍂 Autumn Fair Announcement 🍂
We're pleased to let you know that we will be holding an Autumn Fair on Friday 2nd October.
Further details will be shared in due course, and we hope you'll be able to join us then.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

🧸☀️ Reception’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic ☀️🧸
Last week, Reception have been busy putting their writing skills into practice by creating special invitations for Year 1, inviting them to a teddy bears’ picnic!
On Tuesday, as part of their transition journey, the children came together for the picnic and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon getting to know one another. They loved chatting, sharing stories and making new friends as they spent time together outdoors.
One of the highlights of the day was exploring their new ‘big playground’, which the children were incredibly excited about!
It was lovely to see the children growing in confidence, building new relationships and taking this important step towards their next adventure in school. We are so proud of them all!

🎻⚽ Year 5 Trip to the Hallé Orchestra ⚽🎻
Our Year 5 pupils had a fantastic time visiting the Hallé Orchestra, enjoying a vibrant and energetic performance inspired by the excitement of the World Cup!
The children loved discovering how music can capture the drama, passion and energy of sport, while learning about the different instruments that make up an orchestra and how musicians work together to create such powerful performances.
The concert was both engaging and inspiring, bringing together the worlds of music and sport in a fun and memorable way. It was wonderful to see the children so enthusiastic and immersed in the experience.
A fantastic opportunity to experience live music and develop a deeper appreciation for the arts. Well done, Year 5!

💛🌟 Charity Day 2026 🌟💛
Earlier this month, we came together to celebrate Charity Day - a special opportunity to think about how we can make a difference both locally and nationally.
Each class has chosen a charity to support this year and organised a range of fundraising activities, including face painting, games, sweet treats and crafts. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we raised just under £400, which will be shared between 10 different charities, including Air Ambulance, UNICEF and Dogs Trust.
As well as fundraising, every class took part in a social action project, helping children understand how charities support others and how they can make a positive impact themselves. Pupils raised awareness through videos, songs, posters and presentations, showcasing their creativity and compassion.
One particularly heartwarming project saw children create a collection of beautiful handmade cards, which will soon be delivered to residents at a local nursing home to bring a smile to their faces.
This wonderful day truly encapsulated our school vision to ‘Live Like the Good Samaritan’, demonstrating kindness, generosity and a commitment to helping others.
Well done to everyone involved, and thank you for your continued support!

🌙✨ Good Luck to Our Moonlight Walk Team! 🌙✨
Tonight, six members of our staff team will be taking part in the Dougie Mac Moonlight Walk!
The Moonlight Walk is a fantastic event that brings together friends, families and colleagues to raise vital funds for Dougie Mac Hospice, helping to provide specialist care and support for local adults, young adults and children living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and carers.
As they join hundreds of others to paint the streets pink, our team will be walking with pride, celebrating the incredible work of Dougie Mac and helping to make a difference to those who need it most. The event is also an opportunity to remember loved ones and reflect on the lives of those who are no longer with us, making it a truly special and meaningful evening.
We are fundraising together as a school community and would be incredibly grateful for any support. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so via our JustGiving pages using the links below. Every donation, no matter how small, will help support the amazing work of Dougie Mac.
Good luck to our walkers - we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!

✈️🏛️ Year 6 Visit Hanley Museum! 🏛️✈️
As part of their Operation Spitfire project, Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic visit to Hanley Museum, where they explored the fascinating story behind one of Britain’s most iconic aircraft.
The children learned all about the history, design and engineering of the Spitfire, discovering how local engineer Reginald Mitchell helped shape aviation history.
One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to take to the skies in a flight simulator, giving pupils a taste of what it might have been like to pilot an aircraft!
The children also put their creativity and engineering skills to the test by designing and building their own planes using LEGO, thinking carefully about structure, design and function.
A fantastic day of hands-on learning that brought together history, science, engineering and creativity. Well done, Year 6!
