Last night we wrapped up an amazing year of sport with our third annual sports awards at Norton Central Social Club. 🏅
A packed-out room joined us to celebrate the children’s incredible successes across a wide range of sporting fields, from cross country and dance to swimming and football. ⚽️ 🏏🏐🏊♀️🏃🏼💃🏼👟
We have seen the large majority of our Key Stage Two represent Hillside across inter-school, town, city and county events this year. On each occasion they have demonstrated outstanding determination, teamwork and resilience, always being fantastic ambassadors for the school. ✨ Their dedication to improving and preparing has been relentless, with many hours being committed towards being able to thrive. 👏🏻
The evening was closed with our Tony Green Award, which recognises Year 6 pupils for their sporting excellence and contribution. We were delighted to welcome back the fabulous Mrs Green and last year’s winners to hand out this special accolade. ❤️
A massive congratulations to our five recipients, who are all thoroughly deserving winners of this award! 🏆💫🎉
It has been another memorable year, with so many achievements that will live with the children for the rest of their lives. We look forward to making more memories next year! 😀

Yesterday afternoon, a number of our Key Stage Two children headed to Fenton Manor to compete in the Stoke-on-Trent city finals for swimming. 🏊♂️ 🏊♀️
The children were selected for their performances at the town gala, competing in Team Hanley with children from other schools in the town.
The standard of the competition was exceptional, with all of our children pushing themselves to the limit, showing great levels of determination in every race. 👏🏻 A special well done to those who stepped into some races at the last minute and to three children for competing in races in an older year group! ✨
We’re delighted to share a number of sensational successes, with nine children achieving bronze medals for third place finishes 🥉and one of our children achieving a GOLD medal, becoming CITY CHAMPION in the backstroke!! 🥇🎉
Well done to all who participated, you were phenomenal!

Yesterday afternoon we welcomed teams from a local school: The Willows to take part in some Year 4 football matches.
The games were played in good spirits in the summer sun. ☀️ Both the boys and girls teams worked hard together to do their best against some challenging and talented players.
They didn’t let it phase them, trying hard to play to some lovely passing football throughout. The highlight of the afternoon was a superb goal from one of our girls! 🚀⚽️
It was the first match ever for a lot of the girls and the first time playing together as a team for the boys and they can be proud of their efforts. Well done to all 😊

✨ Proud moment ✨
We’re delighted to announce that we are one of just 136 schools nationwide to achieve the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) this year so far and have been accredited with the highest award of Outreach 🥇
This prestigious national award recognises our commitment to excellence in science leadership, curriculum design, and high-quality teaching and learning across the school, in addition to the work done across the city in supporting other schools with their science leadership, teaching learning and enrichment activities.
A huge thank you to the Hillside community who all ensure that every child benefits from engaging, inspiring and high-quality science experiences at Hillside!
We are incredibly proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing to nurture the scientists of the future! 🌍🧪

🌎 What a fantastic experience
Today, a group of our Year 5 children attended an RE Conference and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they represented Hillside Primary school.
They approached every activity with enthusiasm, curiosity and respect, embracing new experiences and sharing their ideas with confidence. Throughout the morning, they were impeccably behaved and consistently demonstrated our school values through their kindness, respect, resilience and excellent teamwork.
It was wonderful to hear such positive comments from the conference organiser about what a credit our children were. They truly showcased the very best of our school community.
Well done to each and every one of you. Thank you for being such fantastic ambassadors for our school.🌟

We love Science at Hillside 🧬🧲
Year Three visited Poole’s cavern to support their science work about rocks and had a wonderful day in the Peak District. 🏞️
Hillside have held their own science week, which has included:
☑️Science Shares within classrooms
☑️ children working as scientists outside of school to promote and develop our ‘A scientist just like me’ resource
☑️ a whole school science fair day where children have dressed as something sciency and have been involved in a whole range of science enquiry questions.
Wow! What a busy two weeks and what wonderful scientists we have at Hillside 🧑🔬

What a fantastic two weeks of Science at Hillside Primary! 🔬🧲🧪
Last week eight of our Science Ambassadors attended the Great Science Share at Port Vale! ⚽
They had an incredible opportunity to share their passion and enthusiasm for science with over eighty pupils from schools across the city. They engaged with a range of exciting science enquiries, asked many scientific questions and collaborated excellently with children and the adult VIP guests throughout the event.
It was a wonderful afternoon filled with curiosity, collaboration, and a shared love of learning. We are so proud of all the children for representing our school so brilliantly and embracing every opportunity the event had to offer!
