We love Science at Hillside 🧬🧲

Year Three visited Poole’s cavern to support their science work about rocks and had a wonderful day in the Peak District. 🏞️

Hillside have held their own science week, which has included:

☑️Science Shares within classrooms
☑️ children working as scientists outside of school to promote and develop our ‘A scientist just like me’ resource
☑️ a whole school science fair day where children have dressed as something sciency and have been involved in a whole range of science enquiry questions.

What a fantastic two weeks of Science at Hillside Primary! 🔬🧲🧪

Last week eight of our Science Ambassadors attended the Great Science Share at Port Vale! ⚽

They had an incredible opportunity to share their passion and enthusiasm for science with over eighty pupils from schools across the city. They engaged with a range of exciting science enquiries, asked many scientific questions and collaborated excellently with children and the adult VIP guests throughout the event.

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with curiosity, collaboration, and a shared love of learning. We are so proud of all the children for representing our school so brilliantly and embracing every opportunity the event had to offer!

🌟 The children had the best time at our Father's Day picnic today! 🥪 🌟

Our annual Father’s Day Picnic, celebrating all the amazing dads, uncles, brothers, grandads, mums and special friends in our lives was a great success.

It was a lovely, relaxed and enjoyable event where children spent quality time with their loved ones, sharing a picnic, playing games and making special memories together on the field ⚽🎾

It was truly heartwarming to see so many smiles, hear so much laughter and witness the joy across the school grounds. The atmosphere was filled with happiness as families and friends came together to celebrate the important people in our children's lives. ☺️

Thank you all for contributing to such a memorable afternoon. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our school community and the wonderful memories created today. 💙😊

Today our KS2 athletics team have represented Hillside in the Hanley schools finals at Northwood Stadium. 🏃🏼🏃🏼‍♀️

Our team of 40 children competed across a range of events, putting everything into doing their best. From lightning starts ⚡️ to rapid relays 💨 and incredible javelin throws💪🏻, the team were outstanding, achieving lots of great results along the way!

We pleased to share the results…
Girls were team WINNERS with an amazing 191 points! 🥇🎉
Boys were team WINNERS with a brilliant 215 points! 🥇🎉

Therefore, Team Hillside were overall CHAMPIONS with a mammoth 406 points!! 🏆🥳⭐️

We are so proud of each and every one of the team - they have been committed to practising as much as possible to be fully prepared, giving up their time to always try and improve their results. They have shown great teamwork and values throughout the day, setting an outstanding example. ❤️

Congratulations everyone - you’re incredible! 👏🏻

This afternoon, it was the turn of our girls as they headed to New Horizons to participate in the Hanley schools swimming finals. 🏊‍♂️

The girls demonstrated magnificent teamwork in relays and super speed in individual events across all of the different swimming strokes. They all gave their very best and did themselves proud. 😊

We are delighted to share that the team finished as overall WINNERS, taking home the town’s new trophy! 🏆

Thanks to their victory and the boys’ success last week, Team Hillside were also crowned overall team champions! 🎉

Congratulations girls, an amazing achievement!!

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year. 🏅🎉

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised.

We have had another successful sporting year, with a huge number of our pupils representing the school across a wide variety of sporting disciplines. We have celebrated many achievements in competitions at a town, city and county level; it is a testament to the hard work, commitment, enthusiasm and talent of our brilliant children. 👏🏻⭐️

We have also broadened the range of sports taught within PE lessons and inter-house events, while our Sports Leaders have played an active part in leading and supporting events.

This is our fourth consecutive year achieving the gold mark, meaning we require one more year of gold to then qualify for the platinum mark.

Well done and thank you to everyone who has made this possible.

🎉 Hillside Disco Divas🎉

What a fantastic couple of evenings we have had this week- Disco time for all our children! 🪩

During each disco, the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing from start to finish. The children danced and sang their way through every song, bringing incredible enthusiasm to the dance floor all evening.

A huge thank you to all of our children for bringing your fun and energy. Thank you also to our parents and carers for your continued support, and to the Hillside staff who worked to organise and facilitate this event.

We are so proud of our Hillside community and are delighted that everyone had such a great evening!

This afternoon we have hosted a Year 3 and 4 football competition. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Two Hillside teams were joined by teams from two other schools to play a series of matches. Every player demonstrated great teamwork in each game, with some super passing and skill on show. 👏🏻

Hillside Blue worked hard in each game, drawing one and losing two of their matches. ⭐️
Hillside Burgundy had some great success, winning all three of their matches. 🎉

A massive well done to all who took part!

This afternoon, a selection of our Year 5 and 6 children went to New Horizons to participate in the Hanley schools boys swimming finals. 🏊‍♂️

The boys competed across a range of individual and relay events covering the different swimming strokes. They showed great determination and effort, pushing to their limits in each race. 💪🏻

We are delighted to share that the team finished as overall WINNERS, being the first to be presented with the town’s new trophy! 🏆🥇
