Patrick Ang’s journey at University of Staffordshire is all about resilience and creativity.

Originally from the Philippines, Patrick joined us through Art and Design Foundation before progressing onto BA (Hons) Fashion. In his final year, he pushed himself further – stepping into the print room and becoming the only student in his cohort to design and produce his own textiles.

Patrick, who is deaf, has embraced every challenge along the way. Presenting his work with confidence, learning new techniques, and never holding back from opportunities to grow.

Now, his bold, genderless streetwear collection is heading to Graduate Fashion Week in London. Inspired by grunge and built around durability and self-expression, his designs use denim, bleach and paint to create something truly unique.

“I wanted to create something anyone can wear – something that feels open to everyone.”

Alongside showcasing at Graduate Fashion Week, Patrick has also been recognised with the Scarr Hall Memorial Prize which recognises students in the creative arts who achieve outstanding success over adversity.

“I’ve decided to do another year.” 👀
Not because it’s easy.
Because it’s worth it.

Owen chose to stay on for a Digital Marketing Master’s. And here’s what stood out:
✔ More practical learning
✔ A 4-month placement to build real experience
✔ A chance to think differently and push further

Worried about the workload? “You don’t need to be.”

Postgraduate study isn’t about doing more of the same. It’s about growing your confidence and getting ready for what’s next.

It’s official, GradEX has come to an end.

On Friday we closed the show with our Games, Computing, Engineering and Esports students impressing industry judges.

It was a busy day with a grand number of 252 students participating across the 4 subject areas. 200 of these students were from our Games Institute alone!

There was also a total of 105 judges who joined us to award our students and share their industry insights.

It was a jam-packed day from start to finish, but that did not affect our students. Their work was flawless and the passion behind all of their presentations was inspiring.

Highlights from the event include two of our very own Student Content Creators being awarded with prizes.

Congratulations to Aurelia Brzezowska for winning 1st Place in Computing, and Kurtis Ashton for obtaining 2nd Place in Esports.

Everyone who participated across the series of GradEX events should be immensely proud of themselves. We know we are.

For now, rest-up, grab your gowns, and we will see you at Graduation.
