Snowstorm? Staff shortages? Deteriorating conditions? Critical patient visits still need to happen…
Third-year Student Nurses across our Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford campuses recently tackled a challenging community nursing simulation, developed and facilitated by members of the academic team: Charlotte Green and Deana James.
Working against the clock, students balanced patient need, workforce capacity, travel constraints, and clinical risk to create a safe and effective plan for the day.
The exercise provided a valuable opportunity to develop leadership, prioritisation, teamwork, and decision-making skills in a realistic and dynamic environment, helping prepare students for the complexities of registered nursing practice.

1UP, our six-week paid summer placement scheme, has just wrapped up its fourth year. Pictured are our talented teams made up of 43 Staffs Uni Games students, that worked on three different games:
- Super Turbo Shrimp Blasters: a co-op space fishing shooter where the players work together to capture space shrimp https://bit.ly/452SRGc
- The Fungus Among Us: built for Fortnite using the UEFN platform, players learn about the mystical mushrooms based on the art from Kite Myers (who works in our admissions team) https://bit.ly/44ZgwHA
- Chamber: a Rogue-like FPS where players build craft their 6 shooter with special bullets to take ever growing combat arenas https://bit.ly/3TBWvUX
Designed to mirror a real-world studio environment, 1UP brings together students from our Stoke-on-Trent and University of Staffordshire London campuses, across the art, design and tech disciplines, from level 4 to level 7, to collaborate and develop amazing games.
The scheme has won a TIGA award and produced incredible games, including Arcade Game of the year at the Industry Awards.

University of Staffordshire and Omnia Training, a Raytheon UK-led consortium, have announced a new partnership to deliver 100 Level 6 Digital Technology Solutions apprenticeships.
The programme forms part of the British Army’s £2 billion Army Collective Training System and will equip apprentices with specialist digital, data and technology skills for careers in the defence sector.
University of Staffordshire is one of the UK’s top five largest higher and degree apprenticeship providers and this partnership builds on our longstanding links with the UK Ministry of Defence and Raytheon UK.
Professor Raheel Nawaz, Pro Vice-Chancellor at University of Staffordshire, said: "Staffordshire has built deep expertise in digital and AI disciplines, and this partnership puts that expertise directly to work developing the next generation of talent for the defence sector."

Congratulations to Alisha Kirkman and Laura Coil, two of our Staffordshire nursing apprenticeship students who were both awarded with the Chief Nursing Officer Student Excellence Award 🏅
The award recognises them for going above and beyond with their exceptional contributions to patients, colleagues and their communities.
Only a small number of the awards are presented nationally, so it is an incredible achievement to have two of our students receive this amazing accolade.
