Y3/4LD worked scientifically to work out how to add a switch to a simple circuit. We built a simple circuit first then worked out which extra components were needed to add a switch. We looked at how to make a switch from objects in the classroom and made sure that we had a complete loop. Do you know what is needed to make a simple circuit?

Y3/4 have been learning all about covenants and promises that people make before God. This week, we looked at Christian weddings and explored the symbolic meanings of candles (having faith in Jesus as the light of the world), rings (never ending and represents love being eternal) and holding hands (unity and strength).
After, we reenacted the wedding ensuring we included the symbols we had learned about.

Y3/4 have had a fabulous time learning all about Romans at Hardwick Park! We made huge outlines of Roman Britain out of rope and learned about Roman cities. We crafted natural inks by crushing berries and then painted some Roman artwork. We created mosaics using clay and seeds. Later on, we practised our archaeological skills by carefully digging up Roman artefacts from a trench before going to make ancient Roman medicines from herbs. We finished the day by making our own mini aqueducts! A busy but enjoyable day!

Y1/2BR have enjoyed exploring the parable of The Lost Son. We created story cubes that retold the story on the outside and revealed its meaning on the inside. The children demonstrated excellent endurance as they carefully planned, designed and constructed their cubes, producing some fantastic final pieces.

Y3 have been learning how to write an effective setting description in English. After reading Escape From Pompeii, we drew a picture of how we imagined the city to look following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. We then annotated it using expanded noun phrases on post-it notes and used them to help shape our writing. Our descriptions were very detailed as a result!
