On Tuesday, Fiona worked with C. He started by reading me his school book, and then followed this by reading the book I gave him last week, which he has been practising. He read it very confidently! 📚

We then worked on some action words and several CVC sheets, which involved C reading the words and either spelling or drawing them. C also completed a wordsearch. He enthusiastically completed a short reading comprehension and successfully retrieved the correct answers.

We then moved on to maths, which is C’s favourite! He answered questions involving weight, multiplication, addition and subtraction. We finished today’s session with the Magic Maths games, which of course C won! 🏆

I’m so proud of the effort C is putting into his reading. He is already making amazing progress! 🌟

On Wednesday, Fiona worked with L. We started with a little puzzle game and had a catch-up, where L told me all about the secondary school opening evenings she has attended. 😊

We then began our maths session with a maths activity mat, where we worked on multiplication, division, Venn diagrams, fractions, area and algebra. L did amazingly well with all of these, needing just a little support with the angles. We had a great discussion about the different types of angles and how we can work them out.

Next, we moved on to a comprehension activity, and L chose to work on a poem. She answered all of the questions confidently, with just a little help with some of the dated language, as the poem was written in 1912.

Amazing work today, L! You put your all into it as always. 🌟

On Wednesday, Fiona worked with E. We started with a maths activity mat involving sequencing, prime numbers, fractions, time, rounding decimals, and translating shapes. E approached all of these confidently, needing just a little support with the translation work.

Next, we played the “Decimals Find a Pair” game, where we had to multiply and divide numbers by 10, 100, and 1,000. E worked really well with these!

We finished today’s session with a comprehension activity about video games. E was very enthusiastic and interested in the text and answered the questions confidently.

Another fantastic session today, E! 🌟 And thank you for telling me some amazing facts about the Bermuda Triangle! 😊

On Tuesday I worked with H! We began by reading her school book, which she was absolutely amazing at! H’s reading has improved leaps and bounds, particularly through her understanding and listening skills- she really is a superstar! ⭐️

We then completed a quick ‘b’ and ‘d’ reversal activity, followed by a handwriting activity and some targeted letter practice.

We finished by practising her school spellings, and H worked so hard!

On Tuesday I worked with A! We began with a Multilink pattern activity, where A made different patterns and shapes. We then moved onto reading her reading book, where she showed such a fantastic improvement!

We finished by practising her school spellings, followed by a round of Karate Cat!

On Tuesday I worked with B! We began with a Multilink pattern puzzle, followed by watching a video all about the ‘sh’ sound. After that, B used his knowledge, gluing and sticking skills to match each ‘sh’ word to the correct picture.

We discussed making sure we glue the corners and stick each picture on straight, B did a brilliant job! ✂️

I then gave him a little quiz, where I said lots of ‘sh’ words aloud and he wrote them on the whiteboard. He did so well!

On Tuesday I worked with M! We began with a fine motor and pattern puzzle using Multilink, followed by a worksheet focusing on commas. Last week, we practised using commas in a list, and this week we worked on using commas to show a natural pause in a sentence. We also discussed fronted adverbials and how they can be used to add detail to our writing!

I then gave M five tricky spellings to work on. We broke each one down, explored the spelling patterns and then put them into practice with a spelling game.

M was super and promised to practise her spellings this week! Well done, M! ☺️🌟

On Monday I worked with A! We began with a spelling game, followed by a game of 6x table Four in a Row- and of course, A won! 🏆

She then played a few rounds of Hit the Button, practising her 6 and 8 times tables. After that, A practised adding numbers using place value charts. She worked super hard and really impressed me with her reasoning skills in the questions at the end!

On Monday I worked with M! 🌸 We began with a game of Number Bond UNO, followed by some handwriting practice. M traced each word before copying the sentence, with our focus being on keeping her letters sitting neatly on the line. She tried her very best!

After that, we focused on recognising 10s and 1s. M showed great confidence with this topic, which was super!

We finished the lesson with a step-by-step drawing of her current obsession- Peter Pan! 🧚‍♂️ This was a lovely opportunity to practise intentional mark making, spatial awareness and following instructions, all while doing something she absolutely loves!
