Yesterday I worked with T! We began with a puzzle, followed by a reading comprehension. T read incredibly well, and we paused throughout the story to discuss what was happening and develop his understanding. He then answered the corresponding comprehension questions fantastically!

After that, I selected some spellings from the comprehension for T to practise using the Run, Memorise and Write activity. He worked so hard and showed great determination. We then practised the Year 1 Common Exception Words using a fun colouring activity, which T really enjoyed. To finish the session, we played a round on Phonics Play.

Well done, T! I’m so proud of all your hard work and fantastic reading! 🌟

On Wednesday Julie worked with A. We started with A showing me all of her work books from school, it was so lovely to see her work and the progress she’s made throughout the year.
Next, we played an alphabet game, we took turns to say a word beginning with a through to z while throwing and catching a ball.
After this A identified incorrect spellings and then spelled them correctly, she did so well!
Then on to some partitioning questions, she did a really super job!
Well done A you’re are doing so well and I loved seeing all of your school work too. 😊

This morning I worked with O. We began with a puzzle before reading some green words from the Read Write Inc. Phase 3 scheme. We then reinforced these sounds by playing a game of bingo. Of course, O won- she was fantastic at reading every word with confidence!

After that, we unscrambled a series of sentences. O successfully identified the capital letter and full stop before rearranging each sentence into the correct order. She also took great care with her handwriting, keeping her letters on the line as much as possible, and her letter formation was lovely.

Well done lovely girl! 🤩

This morning I worked with B! We began with a puzzle before playing a fun game of Times Tables Snakes and Ladders. We then played a game of Uno Number Bond Memory Match to practise number bonds to 10, which B really enjoyed!

Next, we recapped our learning on matching analogue and digital times. B showed a good understanding of this concept and was able to match the times with growing confidence. To challenge her further, I gave her some additional clock questions on the whiteboard, which she tackled brilliantly.

Well done today, B! You worked really hard, showed fantastic focus throughout the session and should be very proud of yourself 🌟

On Wednesday I worked with E for our first holiday session! We began with a puzzle before completing an arithmetic assessment. This helped us identify any small gaps so I can support E during our sessions and provide her family with ideas to continue her learning at home. E was incredible and showed great confidence in her arithmetic skills!

We then moved on to a reasoning assessment, where E worked wonderfully throughout. She demonstrated excellent reading skills and was able to use the information in the word problems to work out the correct answers. We identified a few small areas to focus on to help build her confidence even further.

Next, we practised telling the time. We took turns writing different analogue times on the board before writing the correct digital times. E did an absolutely fantastic job! To challenge her further, I gave her nine extension questions, which she completed both quickly and accurately.

We finished the session with a fun game of Uno Number Bond Memory Match to practise number bonds to 10.

Well done, lovely girl! You worked so hard and should be incredibly proud of yourself. I can’t wait for our next session!

On Wednesday I worked with C! We began with a game of Uno Number Bond Memory Match, followed by a fun 3x tables game. We then practised completing some 3x tables multiplication wheels. C’s confidence with her 3 times table is growing every week thanks to all of her hard work. She’s also been practising them at home, which is fantastic to see!

Next, we reviewed our learning on column addition, column subtraction and adding and subtracting 10 and 100. C showed great recall and was able to apply each method with increasing confidence.

To finish the session, we moved on to spelling. C completed some spelling pyramids before practising her spellings through a fun “Run, Memorise and Write” game. She worked brilliantly throughout the session and showed excellent determination.

Keep up the fantastic work, C! I’m so proud of the progress you’re making each week.

This afternoon Kayleigh worked with C. 🌟

They started the session with some Disco Dough finger movements 👐🎶 to warm up C’s fine motor skills. They then recapped the previous session to consolidate C’s understanding of prepositions. 📚

After that, C enjoyed a short brain break by playing “Name 5 Things” 🧠 before moving on to learning about proper nouns. 📝🔠

Amazing work today, C! 🌈⭐ Keep up the fantastic effort!

On Tuesday, Fiona worked with A. He built some amazing buildings with the magnets whilst telling me all about his weekend.

We started with some English work, where A confidently read the sentences and chose the correct answers. Following this, he punctuated sentences correctly to show whether they were questions or exclamations. Next, we focused on letter formation during handwriting, and A paid lots of attention to making sure his letters sat neatly on the line.

After this, we moved on to maths and practised multiplication using the 2, 5, and 10 times table songs. I introduced A to tally charts, and he did a fantastic job of gathering information from the tally chart to answer the questions. We finished today’s session by recapping our direction work, where A successfully followed instructions involving clockwise and anticlockwise quarter, half, and three-quarter turns.

Amazing work, A! 🌟

This week, Annabel and G began their session with fun playdough activities to strengthen the hand muscles needed for writing. We then recapped our phonics sounds, built words, and matched them to picture cards to reinforce sound recognition and early reading skills.
We also practised spelling G’s name while focusing on developing a strong pencil grip. Next, we played a picture and word matching game to build vocabulary and phonics confidence before enjoying an interactive story, where G found the correct words and placed stickers, supporting both reading skills and hand-eye coordination.

We finished with a final recap of our phonics sounds to reinforce everything we had learnt. Every activity is designed to build confidence and develop strong foundations in reading, writing, and fine motor skills. Great work this week, G!
