Noticing helps children pay attention to the world around them. When children spot details, patterns and changes, they become curious learners who make connections and solve problems.

At school, this might look like noticing signs in the environment or spotting changes in a story.

At home, it could be seeing the first daffodils appear or finding tiny creatures in the garden. These observation skills support learning across all areas and help children develop confidence in exploring new experiences.

Some books which lend themselves well to noticing little details are 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' by Michael Rosen & Helen Oxenbury,
'Look Up!' by Nathan Bryon & Dapo Adeola and 'The Perfect Fit' by Naomi and James Jones.
