Football is not the cause. Alcohol is not the cause. Domestic abuse is a choice.
Research shows that alcohol can be an aggravating factor in domestic abuse, particularly during major football tournaments.
But alcohol is not the cause of abuse, and football is not the cause of abuse.
Domestic abuse is a pattern of behaviour rooted in power, control and choice.
Whatever the score, there is never an excuse for abuse.

For some people, however, football tournaments can lead to increased tension and abuse at home. If you're worried about your own safety or someone else's, help is available.
You are not alone. Support is here before, during and after the final whistle.
