Year 1 have had a busy but lovely week yet again!

We continued practising our ball skills in PE- bouncing, throwing and catching.

We work hard at practising our handwriting every morning!

We also attended Mass with Year 5 and it was lovely seeing some of our grown ups! It was a lovely Mass.

As it was St Francis of Assisi week, our focus for collective worship was on St Francis of Assisi, we discussed how he loved animals as he believes that all creatures are a part of God’s family. Then we drawn our favourite animal that we would like to thank God for creating and had some time to reflect on things we can do to care for the creatures.

We ended with “ Thank you God for creating all these creatures. Help me to be kind to all your creatures just like St Francis. Amen”

We have been learning all about prayer this week and knowing we can pray at anytime. The children are learning to make a beautiful sign of the cross. We also heard the story about Noah building an ark to take care of the animals, in response they made a story map together 🙏 ✝️

Welcome to Nursery’s Autumn Cafe 🎃 🥣
The children have loved playing in our enhanced mud pie kitchen, they have mixed, poured, stirred and scooped to make orders for their friends. I think Autumn soup and pumpkin pie were the favourite choices. It’s going to be hot chocolate after lunch 🎃 🥣

This afternoon, Year 6 have been answering the question ‘Did the end of slavery bring equality?’ They have learnt about the Jim Crow laws and how they enforced racial segregation in America. We have studied sources that showed facilities at the time were separate but not equal for black Americans.

📚📏This week, our Fab Five book in Reception has been Measuring Me by Nicola Kent. We have been learning all about measurement by measuring our hands, feet and bodies using different objects. We also used our fine motor skills to thread pasta to show different lengths and practised using words such as longer, shorter, taller and smaller. 📏📚

For Black History Month, nursery have been learning about a very special musician Stevie Wonder. We talked about his singing, the instruments he plays, writing his music and how he uses his ears to listen carefully to the world and to music. We were so inspired we made our own musical shakers and played our music to some of Stevie Wonders songs 🎶
