We took 1 week old Xander to see his first Dance Performance today!

Our fabulous dancers with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions performed a piece we started creating together before we went on maternity. This was handed over to be choreographed by Pelican Theatre and supported by People Dancing for World Parkinson’s Awareness Day! 💙

This week has been bitter sweet 💛✨

We said goodbye (but not forever!) to groups who have been part of the Molly Freelance Dance family for the past 9 years this week.

A quote from a participant today that really struck a cord with us as we go into the next chapter…

“In life, you should make a difference and Molly, you have made a difference to all of us”

Molly Freelance Dance officially goes on Maternity leave from now and I will be logging off from all emails and messages regarding work for the foreseeable. Once I intend on coming back to work I will be in touch with an update.

I hope all our wonderful groups keep dancing, smiling and being amazing! I will miss the joy you bring to my life each week but looking forward to welcoming our own bundle of joy to the Molly Freelance Dance family very soon 💛✨😊

Today we were invited to Derby University to lead a 2.5 hour lecture to 2nd year Masters in Dance Movement Psychotherapy Students. It was a fabulous experience with 17 very engaged students who seemed to gain a lot from what the lecture offered to put into use for the remainder of their studies.

We got in the festive spirit this past week! 🎄✨ MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE from all of us at Molly Freelance Dance.
We are now closed until 11th January 2023. See you in the new year!

We love it when carehome residents just can’t resist the urge to get up and show off their dance moves! Full of festive spirit at Ryton Towers Care Home this afternoon 🎄✨❤️

We have been working on the nurturing side of our business lately and have had a new addition dancing (and growing!) alongside us in our dance/therapy sessions for the past few months 😁✨

All our classes will run until February Half Term, our last dance sessions being Friday 17th February 2023.

Our business page will be open throughout our maternity but all our classes will pause while we enjoy welcoming the newest dancing member to the Molly Freelance Dance family 😊

Once we are ready and able to return to dance facilitation, we will update you all in due course on our social media.

In the meantime, get booked in for our spring term classes! All existing groups will receive specific information in the next couple of weeks on how to do this.

Thank you all for your continued support, and for welcoming bump and my baby brain into our classes! 💜

Proud career moment 😁🎉

I am thrilled and honoured to announce that after recently qualifying in August as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist, the Association of Dance Movement Psychotherapist’s (ADMP UK) requested to share my presentation, “Living through our Skin”, at their 40 year Anniversary Conference in Birmingham this weekend (5th/6th Nov). My presentation will be shown on Sunday 6th November at 11.30am.

My presentation looks at The Skin in scientific terms in relation to the seven layers, and simultaneously through experiencing self touch/massage of these 7 layers and how my personal experience of skin cancer has been influenced by self massage as a healing process.

Our Story...

Molly Grey is our Founder (September 2014), Artistic Director and Freelance Community Dance Practitioner and we are situated in West Northumberland in the United Kingdom. Molly received a First Classification BA with Honours Undergraduate degree in Dance, Performance and Teaching from The University of Central Lancashire and a Merit Classification Postgraduate Diploma in Community Dance with Scholarship. Molly then went on to receive a certification in Advanced Dance for Parkinson’s.

As a community focussed organisation we plan, lead and facilitate creative, engaging and enjoyable dance based sessions for a wide variety of age groups, from babies to 90+ year olds and all those between and within a vast range of settings. We have also lectured as part of undergraduate degrees in the UK and provided training in specialist fields.

As an experienced dance facilitator, Molly’s main passion is to make dance accessible to as many people as possible no matter the age, ability or disability of an individual.

We currently work with many schools (including SEN) providing dance clubs after school and dance units as part of PE sessions. Our specialist interest is in Dance for health and well-being and we work closely with those who have physical and learning disabilities (see our Express Yourself and Dance programme) and those with Neurological Conditions such as Parkinson’s, Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis and Stroke to provide specialist sessions (see our Movement for your Mind programme).

We lead regular sessions for organisations, care homes, charities and community groups. Here are a few mentioned below:

Dance City Newcastle
We lead “In Motion” which is a weekly session for adults (aged 16+) with learning and physical disabilities and “Get Moving” which is a weekly session for those who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and their companions

We lead monthly Movement for your Mind sessions at the following organisations/charities: Chrysalis Headway Tyneside Tyneside MIND Silverline Memories Dementia Support at Haltwhistle Foxton Court HC-one North Durham MS Society Newcastle & Gateshead Group

We are always seeking more interesting work, projects and opportunities. We aim to make sure we spread Molly’s passion for movement and encourage out the dancer in every Body. We believe Dance has magic qualities that deserves to be shared.
