Very recently went away on a short examining tour for Rockschool to Guernsey. My luggage went missing so was pretty stressful but was eventually resolved after 2 days. Got back home and had a re-listen to a track I'd recorded and filmed before I left for my new YT channel Songs Stories & Drums. Decided it wasn't up to scratch so going to do it again. I'm fussy! The track is Brother to Brother by Gino Vannelli and the story involves my dearly departed buddy Peps Cotumaccio . All being good I'll have it online soon. Badda Bing Badda boom.

DRUM BOOTH UPDATE: Some latest pics of the studio. I've actually recorded a few tracks for something that was needed urgently, but am having massive latency problems with the new recording set up. So have taken a step back and have just bought Studio One (big learning curve) and will stop using Cakewalk by Bandlab which is not working right with my Roland Studio Capture - which I don't want to give up as it's a really good piece of gear.

All being well I will have something new to announce and show by the end of this week - latest early next week. Really looking forward to sharing with you.

In the meantime... the kit is sounding amazing. NATAL Maple Original! The snare is awesome - NATAL Cafe Racer Tulipwood 14X6. The Sabians as always sound pristine and my Vater Piccolo's are still my favourite stick. The rust is starting to come off the playing and the room is an inspiring space to be in. So all good.

And so begins the process of sorting through my cymbals and choosing what goes onto the recording kit. 5 Rides, 9 crashes, 9 effects cymbals, 5 sets of hi hats. Not all in the photo with some of my rehearsal kit for the Jazz trio. There are some go to cymbals like my trusty HHX Dry Ride. I feel like a kid in a candy store again. BIG thanks to Jerome Marcus who signed me to Sabian in the late 90's and Dayne Marshall who extended my endorsement when I moved back to South Africa. Forever humbled and thankful. Viva Sabian, viva excellence.

Drum booth update: before the build someone asked me how I was going to do this on my own. Good question. Without clamps I could never do this, so if you're planning to do this make sure you have the right tools.

It's a lot of work for one person... but extremely therapeutic and rewarding seeing it all slowly coming together. Only 4 panels to go. 15 done and dusted.

Looking forward to sharing music with you in the not too distant future.
