π Our end of year celebrations π
Today we said goodbye and good luck to our amazing preschool children who will be starting school in September. Itβs always an emotional time but we are confident they are ready for their next step and they move on with happy preschool memories, lots of skills and friendships they have made along the way.
We celebrated together with a Beach style party including a bouncy castle which was the highlight of our day!
Itβs the end of another academic year with lots of children ready to start school and our other children who are looking forward to returning to preschool after the summer break. We are looking forward to welcoming lots of new children and their families in September too.
A huge thank you for all our kind words, cards and presents. They are all very much appreciated and we are looking forward to spending our voucher with a staff team celebration.
Wishing you all a fantastic summer break as we prepare for another year full of learning adventures!

This morning we went to our local park for a teddy bears picnic. The children brought their own teddy bear and we went to the park to have a picnic snack.

After sharing a story together called βdinosaur digβ we talked about team work and the children decided they wanted to create their own dinosaur swimming pool π¦ π¦
In the outdoor area we worked together to move the tyres, cover them in a ground sheet and fill each section with water. We added shells and stones then let the dinosaurs in! The children then decided they looked like rock pools so added the sea creatures to join them!

π Making Memories π
As we prepare for the last couple of weeks at pre-school we focus on the transition to starting to school, new children starting their pre-school journey with us and making memories together.
Its a lovely sunny day so the children decided it was perfect for another day in our paddling pool keeping cool, laughing together and having fun βοΈ βοΈ βοΈ
At Swann Lane Preschool, children can start with us after their 2nd Birthday and continue their journey will us all the way to starting in Reception. We are very lucky that the children form strong friendships with each other and these friendships continue once they leave us.

οΈ Come spend a morning with us at forest school β
οΈ ππ³
Every child gets to spend a full morning each week outdoors in nature during a forest school session. The area has lots of opportunities to explore the world around us and create learning opportunities using nature, tools and different elements.
This morning we started gathered around our fire circle where we introduce the importance of staying safe and keeping everyone else safe. We spend time listening to the different sounds we can hear and talk about what we can see π¦ πͺΊ π π
In todayβs session the tool we used was a screwdriver. We carefully screwed into a wooden log slice then used coloured elastic bands to challenge our fine motor skills and create shapes.
We also helped take care of our fruit and vegetable patch by checking the soil to see if they needed water. We found some strawberries had started to turn red but our tomatoes were still green π
π
Gross motor challenges are also a huge part of forest school as we explore our large movements to climb trees, create obstacle courses and develop our coordination. We have wooden planks, tyre swings and a large slide from the crates.
The children created their own learning using wooden stumps and chalk. They made a number game by creating numerals, matching numeral to quality and counting in sequence.
There are so many fantastic learning opportunities which come from spending a morning outdoors in nature. All the children are focused, happy and in control of their own learning as they develop life long skills.
