If your child was born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023, it's time to start thinking about their Reception place for September 2027.

📅 Application deadline: 15 January 2027
📅 National Offer Day: 16 April 2027

Parents living in Stockport must submit their application through Stockport Council, even if applying for schools in other local authority areas.

✅ You can list up to 6 school preferences.
✅ Applying for your catchment school may improve your chances of securing a place.

🎈 Swann Lane Pre-School is TEN 🎈

Today we celebrated 10 years of Swann Lane Pre-school with a Bluey themed tea party. A very special guest came to see us- the children were SO excited to meet Bluey!! Together we planned the party, made bluey cakes and chose what party games to play. The children had the best time!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has been part of our 10 year journey at Swann Lane Pre-school including all our fantastic staff members, our Footytotz Stockport coach Chris, our amazing families and all the wonderful children who have shaped us into who we are today. We often talk about the special times we have had and It’s lovely to see so many of our past children coming by to say hello and staying in contact.

We have grown from strength to strength continually looking for new opportunities that can give our children the very best early years experience that we can. We are excited to see where another 10 years takes us!

🛝 🍁 📚 Our community 📚 🍁 🛝

Being part of our community is an important part of our early years curriculum at Swann Lane Preschool. We love getting out and exploring the world around us by finding out new things, talking and sharing ideas alongside visiting places nearby.

This week we had a visit to our local park where we found signs of Autumn. We introduced new words and talked about what we could see. We saw lots of squirrels collecting conkers, visited the herb garden in the park and listened to the sounds we could hear whilst outdoors.

Our older preschool group visited our local library where we looked at different books, shared stories together and created our own stories. On the way back we retold the story of ‘Goldilocks and the 3 bears’. We love our library visits which support the children’s literacy development and encourage a love of reading from an early age.

🍂 Forest School 🍂

Being outdoors is our favourite way of learning! This mornings forest school session was fantastic! We have been busy:
🪵 exploring nature and creating patterns
🌰 looking for the first signs of Autumn
🛝 creating a slide using a piece of wood. We had great fun sliding and talking about why it was slippy!
🪱 searching under logs for different minibeasts and having lots of great conversations about where they live etc
🍅 looking after our vegetable patch and collecting fruit that was ready for eating
💧 the rain water made a pond on top of our den! The children had a look to see if they could find any frogs!

All these skills have a huge impact on our indoor classroom too- the little hands that have been climbing, using tools and exploring are then developing skills for early writing, building a strong vocabulary and developing a love of learning.

Every week our children get to experience the forest school area all year round- every season brings new opportunities to explore!

🎳 UV bowling 🎳

This morning we have been challenging our throwing skills to take part in a game of skittles! We used glow sticks to light the skittles and turned off the lights!

We then counted how many skittles each child knocked down and used our fingers to make number representations. Lots of fantastic maths skills being demonstrated this morning.

🌟 Hello September 🌟

This week we welcomed back all our children after the summer break and lots of new families joined our pre-school.

We always spend the first days focusing on building secure friendships and relationships to help everyone settle in and get the best experience with us. Having those secure relationships form the building blocks to starting their education journey with us and lead on to engaging in all the opportunities and experiences we offer.

A huge well done to all our fantastic children this week!

🌟 Our end of year celebrations 🌟

Today we said goodbye and good luck to our amazing preschool children who will be starting school in September. It’s always an emotional time but we are confident they are ready for their next step and they move on with happy preschool memories, lots of skills and friendships they have made along the way.

We celebrated together with a Beach style party including a bouncy castle which was the highlight of our day!

It’s the end of another academic year with lots of children ready to start school and our other children who are looking forward to returning to preschool after the summer break. We are looking forward to welcoming lots of new children and their families in September too.

A huge thank you for all our kind words, cards and presents. They are all very much appreciated and we are looking forward to spending our voucher with a staff team celebration.

🌟 The Gingerbread man 🌟

Extremely proud of our preschool children today as they did their end of year performance this morning. It’s a big thing getting up on the stage but they all did fantastic singing and actions!

Thank you to all our parents for their costumes and for supporting all the wonderful activities we do.

Tomorrow is our last day of the academic year, and we will be having lots of fun at our Beach party!! 🎉
